Since it's on, and since I have nothing else to do, I'm watching the movie. I'm about an hour and a half into it as of now.

I'm somewhat relieved that, unlike with Harry Potter, that I'm maintaining my 'eh'-ness about it. I know people will want to beat me for this, but my general opinion so far is: It's a good way to kill an evening I have nothing else to do with. My biggest issue with it is that it's very, very, very, very long and slow. An hour and a half in, and the fellowship just got together.

It does have some cool effects. The horses-water/flood part was cool as heck. I love the black horses to death.

Chia and others lust over Legolas; I'm just totally, 100%-ly not seeing that. He's a pretty boy, he does nothing for me. Sorry, girls. :) Aragorn is a lot closer to doing it for me, especially when he came charging back after the idiot hobbits lit a /fire/ while trying to /hide/ at /night/. (Idiots.) I missed who the other human is with the party (B-something), but he's pretty cute, too.

Two hours in: These damned hobbits are making more trouble for the party than the bad guys. They'd be smart to just kill them all off and go on alone (except Frodo, who seems to have a knack for getting himself killed). Sheesh. Yes, let's touch the skeletons and knock it into the well and bring the bad guys running. Ever so smart of you, sir.

Ending: Arg! That's not an ending! You can't end a movie without an ending! Bah. The second half was better than the first by a lot. They should have cut the first hour off the movie and it would have been a lot better.

Aragorn is one sexy man, yes yes.

And I hate to admit it, but the idiot hobbits sort of grew on me.

And I hate to admit it, but now I sort of want to see the second part. Bah. :P

Oh, I recommend it.

If Frodo's unplanned attempts at suicide amuse you, and if you want something more fast-paced (and more men like Aragorn), do watch the second part. It has much more of that! *grins* Plus, it has fun dwarf action. And worgs. You'll like the worgs. And Gollum... who you'll also like.

Yeah, there's lotsa Aragorn, and lotsa hobbits falling into things.

It's a pretty ok movie, is the second one.

I never saw the movie as being slow paced, but then, I've read the books. Tolkien fans around the world will gasp at this admission, but the books were among the most boring I've ever read, including organic chemistry textbooks. They cut out unbelievable amounts of pointless meanderings, random poems and songs, and fake history lessons in the movie, making it go by much quicker than the book.

As for the ending, well, yeah it doesn't have one, because they're following the books and that doesn't end until the end of Return of the King.

That would be Boromir.

And from what I've been able to tell, most women fall into one of three groups:

* Legolust
* Likin' the scruffy look (Aragorn)
* Pervy hobbit fanciers

Personally, I'm all over Boromir, although I admire Legolas and Aragorn for their competence.

And the reason the movie is 'slow' is because it's telling a story. A very complex story. I know there's a lot of talking, and you hate that. ;)

I'm glad you wound up enjoying it. :) It's nice to have someone else who *hasn't* read the book on the bandwagon.

Agreed. His beard is darned sexy (and I've never really been a facial hair person before...).

You made me snicker out loud. Luckily I'm at home for lunch. :)

Sorry, but I did read the books... however, it was a good 15 or more years ago, so I don't remember anything except them being really, really long. I'm seriously thinking about reading them again now.
