Assault static post (FFXI)

Cutting since this is directed to just a handful of people...



Problem: MIA Nil. No SAM x2 for Saving Private Ryaaf.
Problem: Periqia is where we really need to farm next, hands down.

Solution: With one new Assault, we'll all rank up to LC and can spam Shooting Down the Baron instead! It doesn't look tricky: You have to kill one imp. He'll warp around the field, but if Draque comes either as SMN and keeps a pet on him or as SAM/RNG and can use widescan, we'll find him again easily.

One more xp scroll and I'll have rng at 37, so I am totally ready for either job. :) Sounds fine by me. Even if we find we don't like it, we should at least give it a try.

Why don't you farm Requiem? Its another kill everything type Assault. Its hard to do with 4 but with 5 it should be ok. Having someone being able to silence magic type mobs is VERY useful.

My group has been doing more Pre-emptive Strikes from Mamool training grounds.

We liked Pre-emptive Strike a lot, but for some reason Requiem was hard for us. We lost one of our NINs (dead computer), and the undead chewed up and spit out our remaining NIN. We timed out at least once and cut it really close the other times we did it.

Well... Banish 3 helps. It removes the defense penalties temporarily for ghosts and skeletons. Liberal use of it is nice. Having high DOT damage jobs is good as well. I think an ideal setup would be mnk, nin, whm, rdm. But these 4 jobs would need to be well geared if not at least very effecient and know what to do/when to do it. With five it *should* be easier especially if its either a brd or another high DOT job (nin, mnk, war, any other job with relic -.-;;).

Let's see, our group is currently NIN, SAM, SAM, WHM, BRD. Eventually hopefully we'll get our missing NIN back and have two of those. For now we're going to just ignore this Assault -- we beat it once, so we got our points for the unique win. Hopefully we'll like the Baron one and be able to stick with that!

I farmed Shooting Down the Baron a ton. Never did it with wide scan, but having a SMN made it cake -- you can just follow the avatar when the Baron warps, which is good for directionally challenged people like me since I didn't have ti open up the map all the time. :p It was pretty easy to trio, so if you have enough people you might want to consider splitting up into two groups for better points.

We're going to ususally be four (NIN Nairua, BRD or DRK me, WHM Dani, and SAM or SMN Draque). We'll probably have Draque come as SMN so he can keep his avatar on it, and I'll do DRK. We'll just have to hope for the best with MP!

Ah, we were always MNK, SMN and RDM. We never had any MP issues using Garuda and Predator Claws as often as possible, but obviously we had Refresh. Yours will die faster though, with more damage. And you can just use Carby if it turns out to be a problem!
