Please, sir, may I have s'more?
Jan. 27th, 2003 08:28 am8:28 AM: I'm done reading all my daily websites.
Time left at work: 8.5 hours.
Le sigh.
Besides watching Lord of the Rings (twice) over the weekend, I finally caught Princess Mononoke on cable. I had seen it in the theater (sort of, a little "art house" type place down in San Jose. The screen wasn't much bigger than a big screen TV), but I had been wanting to see it again. It was a pretty movie, and the music was wonderful, but it confirmed my opinion of it from the first viewing: The theme was handled rather heavy handedly. Still, I'd happily watch or listen to it again.
In my second viewing of LotR, I came into it after the first hour. Indeed, IMO, that made it a much, much better movie. Ah, I had intended to write more, but I'm not feeling very verbose this morning.

Date: 2003-01-27 10:34 pm (UTC)I think the quality of the voice acting is generally better in Japan where it was originally produced and where animation is given some level of respect that Americans don't assign to "cartoons". I would rather hear the original actor most of the time than a cut-rate translated voiceover, which tends to rush in parts and then fill in other parts with unnecessary words like Huh? Yeah! Come on!
