Links and FFXI update
Jun. 5th, 2007 12:58 pmMy coolest links seem to always come from
firebyrd's LJ~. This slideshow shows the typical week's worth of food for families across the world, and yet again America shames me. :/ Not only do we have so much (so much so that they had to stack our food to get it all in the shot), it's all crap. Only the California family actually had a tiny bit of green stuff in their mix.
The only way the slideshow would have been better is if it had listed countries as well. (Edit: See comments. :P ) I don't know offhand where Kodaira City is! Or Breidjing Camp or Cuernavaca or Konstancin-Jeziorna or Cllingbourne Ducis. Though I'm guessing that last one is in England, based on the brands shown.
FFXI: Update day today. Nothing big or exciting for me, but I'm happy for the people who are hyper about the merit point changes.
The upgrade in mog lockers (the biggest YAY for me) means I'll finally cash in some of my 180K IS and sell gold coins (eh, have to make space on the AH...). Chocogals (the second biggest YAY) sound cool. I suppose eventually the CoP changes will be good, too.
Chocobo digging related changes: The change in outpost fees rocks. I had been spending 3.5-4K daily on outposting to chocobo dig, and when digging sucks that brings things too close to a loss of money. Hope the mob-change makes Vollbow a more useable outpost now...
Level 8 Besiegeds scare me. We can barely win at level 7. :/
Being able to store event things and not throw bomb cores = win. Not that I ever threw my bomb core in two years, but I know others aren't as careful/lucky. It's nice that I won't have to be so paranoid anymore.
This last part makes me sad:
Items obtainable through chocobo digging have been adjusted in the following areas:
Wajaom Woodlands/Bhaflau Thickets
That's where I do the majority of my digging now. :( Yeah, yeah, yeah, in theory they could be improving it (no, I wasn't able to type that with a straight face), but I doubt it.
New ToAU quests and mission? Meh. Replacing/changing rings/earrings? I don't have any to begin with. Merit changes? Meh. But so long as they don't mess up Woodland/Thicket digging, I'll count myself happy.

Date: 2007-06-06 03:51 am (UTC)Why? Compared to the majority of the other families, the Americans didn't spend all that much more, and if you actually look at the types of food, it's not all that different. There's not a thing to be ashamed of.
