Good and bad night (FFXI)

Last night I stayed up until 2 AM for Besieged, and my cat woke me up at the usual time this morning, so I'm mighty sleepy and more than a bit grumpy. Wasting half the morning at the DMV and getting nothing done didn't help the day any.

Good things on game: I made over a million gil in less than an hour. o.O Yay selling gold coins! I got as much as 22K for one and as little as 9K (sold to a LS friend, lowest AH sale was 13K). I sold about 80K IS worth of them, so I still have 100K IS left.

The other good thing: I found the change made to the Woodlands! It would be the addition of:


Very rare result, I got only 1 in my 100 items (86 in Woodlands, the rest in Thickets). How cool is this? As of tonight, it remains:

I'm the one and only sale! :D I have no idea what to list it for for real, as I don't even know what it makes. (Anyone who says 'ceramics' gets hit. :P )

Other than that, as far as I could tell, Woods digging remained the same. I got all the usual ores (gold, plat, alum, adaman, darksteel) and roughly the same amounts of the junk-type stuff there. So hey, maybe the change isn't bad!

The bad on-game: Spent all evening seeking, only invite was a totally unworkable party (THF, THF, THF, WAR, DRK, RNG (me), levels 19-24). I hate XPing, I hate random people, and I don't want to play RNG (need it for subjob), so seeking all night under those conditions didn't make me a happy camper. I'm just going to seek on Qufim Island (because I don't mind pulling there as much as I do elsewhere) and once I outgrow that zone I should be plenty far ahead and be able to keep ahead of COR with XP scrolls.

I'm sort of thinking I should go back to the Dunes (I'm RNG 19), but I really really don't want to. There were tons of level 19 melees seeking in Qufim tonight, so I'm hoping I can get away with no going back to the Dunes for a level.

I had the same dilemma as a level 19 RNG. I soloed worms in the Maze of Shakhrami to get to 20. Anything beats going back to the Dunes.

I was kind of pondering that, but soloing takes concentration and brain-power. I didn't have either tonight! If I get no invites tomorrow, I might have to. :/

It totally doesn't on ranger. o.o Just make yourself a shitload of sleep bolts. I swear, it was the laziest, most mind numbing xp gain I'd ever gotten.

Worms worms worms worms worms. They are god's SE's gift to anyone with ranged attacks. Find a WHM for silence and barstonera, and the only thing you worry about is Gastric bomb. Korroloka (desert entrance), Maze, Qufim, lower Gugsen (higher level friend recommended), and Attowa Chasm should take you all the way to 37. You can also /whm yourself for cures and bars. Alternatively, if you feel like paying attention, most spells can be run away from if you stand at max range.

This is so true and so silly. I did Qufim as RNG/WHM. During one outting a party of WARs (5 WARs, it was when Qufim was still overwhelmed with people seeking...) asked me if they could just sit back and leech XP while I mowed over the worms. I was bored and said sure. Went remarkably well except for the 1 WAR who insisted on meleeing and didn't understand running away :( He's the only one who didn't make bank from the arrangement. I think that party still stands as the oddest ones I've ever been in job-composition-wise, hahaha...

You don't even have to have very good ranged skill. I took NIN from 20-24 in Korroloka with that job's icky marksmanship skill.

Got to 25 today, yay! I'm not intending to level it more (going to try to stay ahead with scrolls), but if I have to, maybe I can solo worms somewhere.

Don't go back to the dunes. In all my jobs I just went straight to Qufim after 19. The exp PT you'll get in the dunes will take ages and will just make you not want to level RNG for sj anymore. (Note that only WAR and NIN are past Dunes-level.. so I have not much experience as melee past that!)

Holy cow @ your IS btw o.o I used to sell in stacks Silver pieces all the time when they still yielded good money.
