Shoot shoot shoot, pull pull pull, shoot shoot shoot...zzzz (FFXI)

RNG 19 to 25. 11 hours (breaks for two Besiegeds in the middle). Toss about two more hours on top of that for seeking time and you get: zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

First party was horrible. 4-5 level difference at all times. I was level 19 (lowest by far) fighting pugs in Qufim Island. I landed about one arrow in 100 and meleed for 0 most of the time. I wasn't even pulling (had a second RNG) so I have no dea why they kept me around. Got from 19 to 21 though!

Besieged, then second party was better. No WHM/healer, just a PL. Killed things mucho fast. Went from 21 to 25 using one XP band charge and two anniversary ring charges. Had to pull most of this party, but wasn't horribly bad (it's hard to get lost around camps in Qufim, even for still-gets-lost-in-Sandy me).

If I can't keep RNG (subjob) ahead with scrolls, I'll solo some worms for a level or so. Or maybe if I'm in range to XP in the Desert I'll seek there (that's just about the only other place in the game I don't mind pulling). I sold off all my RNG stuff though, so I'm hoping not to have to.

All in all, I only semi-enjoyed RNG in the end. That whole "get hate just by 'meleeing' (shooting)" thing. It did my heart good to be playing another job that is strong enough to get hate that way (no WS, no JA, nothing else needed to get the mob in my face).

Though I was dead tired by the end, I got my digging and Hot & Cold done. Started the generals' quests. Still haven't done the running around for the new missions. May or may not do that tomorrow.

PS: Both parties had BRDs for half of the time, so finally, for the first time ever, I got to see the difference a BRD makes for melees. Everyone was right, I shouldn't have worried so much about being useless. :P

PPS: BG really, really needs to come back. I've been reading the Alla boards the last two days and it's making my brain hurt!

BRD is made of love, dammit! Why do you not believe me when I tell you this? ;p

Also, what the heck do RNG do for gear in the 20s? They can wear Lizard gear at 17, and then I don't think their next real armor upgrade comes until they hit 27 and can equip Brass Scale. I mean, I know they're probably not supposed to be getting hit all that much, but some of them have to pull, so... I'm confused.

I know! People told me but I didn't believe! :P

And, seemingly embarrassing, I wore Fine (HQ lizard) all the way to 25. There just wasn't much else! RNG is odd, it can't even wear the Bone/Beetle line.
