A good death (FFXI)

I hate dying. I really, really hate dying. Last night we were fighting a NM that charms people. Whole party got charmed except than me (uh oh). As we were in the middle of aggro mobs, there was no place to run. I started singing Horde Lullaby, but I died before it finished (NM, MNK, NIN, DRG, and two WHMs beating on you will do that to a guy). But still, as I fell to the ground, I said "Good!" out loud. Why? Because evil naikitty didn't get the killshot. :D

And surprisingly, checking my XP buffer, I had a lot more than I thought I did. I thought I had a 9K buffer, but apparently I have 19K. I really, really should switch into XP mode and bump it up a bit, but I really want to keep getting merits! (So many COR merit plans, which are a tad premature at the moment, but still! COR COR COR!)

Speaking of merits, I'm trying to decide what to do with weapon merits. I've put nothing into axe/GS/scythe and likely that won't change because I do nothing on DRK anymore. Putting weapon merits into BRD would be silly for me (I never melee with it). However, if I were to max out marksmanship, I could get Slugshot levels earlier... It's just hard to know now though how much I'll use COR for stuff though. LS events and stuff: If a DD is needed, DRK would be better. If support is needed, BRD would be better. (And why am I trying to figure all this out now, on three hours of sleep? zzzz)

Why three hours? Mostly because I'm an idiot. Caught one level 6 Besieged last night, then trolls were building at bedtime. Luckily they grew really fast, but still they didn't attack until hours after my bedtime. By the time I finally got into bed, there was no chance of me falling right to sleep (I need decompression time, but last night it was Besieged and good RP and then right straight into bed). Even the three hours of sleep I did get were really broken. :/

I hear tell the new Summerfest is being done interestingly -- you have to 'unlock' it for your server by posting poems. I can't get into the LS comm to check though, since I don't keep my POL password here at work. I really, really hope the event isn't too annoying this year. Easy and fun {Yes, please.}
