Yay day! (FFXI)
Oct. 3rd, 2007 08:50 pmIt only took a year and three months, but I finally leveled up in chocobo digging! Every day I dig, vacation or work, sick or healthy, weekend or weekday, I never miss a day. And finally, for the first time since the digging nerf, I leveled!
I just need to level once more, and while it will probably take even longer, at least I did finally level once post-nerf so I know it's not broken. :P
A15 is really, really nice. It's like insta-dig as soon as you zone in!
In other news, we battled Fenrir again tonight. I took his stone, even though I don't really need it. The fight was amusing, since I have him dat swapped out for a bunny.
I didn't get any pictures taken today, but meh, whatever. So still no Pit mob, but whatever. I think we're XPing tomorrow (so many day switches, so confused!) so maybe on Friday I'll go take more pictures.
Besieged now, meh.
Wish I'd get over this whole 'meh' thing for FFXI. Maybe I need to go back to skilling Chaser's gold, even though my wallet is so so so so much happper now.
Edit: Oops, I forgot to link to this: Cool art picture! That artist has a great style, love the dark around the eyes (it's in all of his/her pictures.)

Date: 2007-10-04 02:55 pm (UTC)How do you know that you gained a level in chocobo digging, anyway? Just by the delay?
When people first start out digging, it's by delay between digs. Something like 45 seconds, to 30 seconds, to 15, to 10, something like that. Eventually that delay drops to zero then you become an "A" digger -- A60, A30, A25, A20, A15, A10. A means 'area', so an A60 digger has to wait 60 seconds after zoning in before they could make their first dig. (The pre-A people have to deal with this as well, but they need to clear the delay between digs before they can work on the delay after zoning.)
A10 (top level) means basically no delay (it takes 10 seconds for the zone to load, so as soon as you can do anything upon zoning, you can dig.)

Date: 2007-10-07 08:04 pm (UTC)It's a different game than it was in 2004 -- there's a ton of high level stuff now, instanced stuff, so it's not all camping a couple HNMs 24/7. Assaults, Limbus, a ton of stuff you can do on a weekly basis with a few people (a party or less works, but you can still do 18 man alliances on many too, if you want).
Plus there's stuff like Besieged (beastmen attacking the new city on a regular basis), and a crapload of new XP spots for 75s.
Last i saw the early levels were dead, and the japanese guys hated everyone.
I don't XP much, but based on what I hear lower levels are about the same. Not totally sure though. Japanese people sometimes do hate everything non-JP, but there are plenty of nice JPs, too. (And now the reverse is happening as well: sadly there are lots of NAs who hate JPs.)
Did they ever update the game's engine to something like most other newer games? Higher system requirements, etc?
I wish. They said they'll always support PS2, so I'm guessing that'll never happen. (Something like 75% of the JP playerbase still uses PS2, so...)
