Guess what I did today! (FFXI)

New record: I actually got two merit points in one day! Not 20K XP though, but 12K finished up one from yesterday and got a new one today. Hit 26K AN, too. 11 hours of Campaign = Too Damn Many.

No more! I don't even know what to spend the merits on, I don't need to work this hard! I'm going to do what veloxe suggested and just sit at one location instead of chasing the attacks around the world. That way I can do things like relax (not check /cmap every couple seconds, which is required to chase!) and watch TV and stuff. This is way too much work otherwise.

I did see some interesting things in the attacks today though!

This was funny. I was just commenting on his name! Grim isn't happy!

I was all like 'WTF? Gah! What removes Doom? What removes Doom?!" as my ten seconds counted down. Around four seconds I recalled the right spell, but it didn't take effect and I fell over dead. :P

I love love love the new (eh, old?) yagudo!

And I wish I could have gotten a better shot of this yag NM: I never saw a yag with a crest before! Sucky shot of him, but the situation was getting bad fast and I couldn't just hang around and take pictures. (Beastman held area, we were deep into it, and yags were flooding in.)

And lastly, ten points to anyone who can name what's wrong with this picture. I mean really, what the heck? You couldn't think of something, anything, more reasonable for them to wear?

After all that I helped deckardmagnus kill the Windy mission War Lynx, but only because azumauta was saying something about fixing me. c.c Nothing's broken! Nothing needs to be fixed! Hands off my parts! ;;

Gold musketeer's wearing red uniforms?

I'm still trying to figure out which zones have the most frequent campaign. Or at the very least, which zone will net me the most amount of xp/an for the least amount of effort. My other requirement is that the zone normally *DOES NOT* have background music until Campaign (because its just annoying). That way I can continue to read and do other things while waiting for Campaign to happen.

So far, Jugner(S)/Meriphataud(Beast)/Grauberg(B)/FortKN(W)/Vunkerl(S) seem to be the best candidate zones. I'm still curious as to when the "conditions" are good for beastmen to attack because frankly on Valefor, Yags/Orcs have 0 resource/supply while Quads are near max. Yet the attack rate seems to be the same regardless of the attacking Beastmen mobs.

Jugner is where I sit and idle when I don't want to chase Campaign around. I like Vunkerl as a zone better (looks-wise, not battle/campaign-wise), and I suspect Meri Mountains would give better XP, but Jugner is the easiest. Meri is beastman owned for us as well, which means a long run from NPC to battle, Jugner is basically the same place.

I remember leveling RDM in the pre-TP burn days, where 4-5 person Refresh cycle was not uncommon. Had to take a break at 60 because, really, that is what I wanted to do to the next person who went "REFRESH!" 2 seconds after it wore off and while I was casting it. Same with Dispel.

... Huh. I guess it's not like that anymore. My RDM is 60-something (68, I think), and when I was leveling it years ago it was an exception for a party member not to need refresh. I got burned out on that job like I've gotten burned out on nothing else in FFXI. Refresh x5-6, haste xtoo many, dispel, maybe enfeeble, then start over again! I wanted to shoot myself.

I hate to even come as RDM for really low level (30 cap) stuff. Picturing wearing the AF again makes me want to curl up and cry! :P

Edit: Heh! I've not gotten to use this icon in ages!
