Pictures, books, and FFXI (mostly RL)

I have no idea what this is a picture of, but it's pretty darned cool: Toys? Bats? Odd animation? Whatever it is, it makes me happy. It looks kind of like flying people!

The second picture has to be totally fake, but it's amazingly cool. Armor for cats! That'd be so cool if it really "worked" (if a poor cat wouldn't go crazy in it). Battle cats, attack!

Books! It's been a long time since I was so excited about an Amazon order arriving, but it contained my Raised By Wolves books! Misleading title, they're about pirates! Recommendations on my flist made it sound really, really interesting and a good match to my tastes. I'm almost done with my current book, then can start in on them!

Also arrived A Strong and Sudden Thaw. Isn't that an amazing title? My second favorite after The City, Not Long After. Amusingly, the two books are about similar things (post-apocalyptic societies). The cover art for A Strong and Sudden Thaw is really nice, but I'm having trouble finding a good picture of it online. It's so subtle... This is the best I can find, but it's not good enough. The pine needles are sharp, clear, and totally realistic, and the 'dragons' are like shadows on the snow.

FFXI: I'm really sorry I got burned out on RDM, it's quite the interesting job (outside of parties). It's soooooooooo strong, I can't believe how much better I do on it than I do on DRK. My MP pool is twice as deep, and if I ever run out there's convert! So many defensive spells. So much curing power! Such an interesting job.

Hit RDM 65 and got halfway to 66. Probably won't hit 66 until Wednesday though, as COR static is tomorrow.

Tired now. I'm in a 'not sleeping' period which is really annoying. zzz

RDM/BLU is mad fun in Campaign, if the zone isn't too crowded I can solo tank Ga'Dho Softstep, probably most non-Kindred NM except Venomtail but I don't branch out of Bastok areas overly much so I won't make that claim yet :P I haven't gotten to test my mettle on Kindreds, I swear I haven't seen any of them since the last patch. I don't think anyone can get more exp and AN than this job combination, especially if it isn't crowded and you can gather 4-7 mobs on yourself depending on the troop and blood-tank them and enfeeble them with AoE blue magic.

OMG, RDM is interesting inside of parties, too! You get to refresh/haste/main heal, while kiting mobs all over the place. Sometimes, you get to do that all at once!

Yeah, but I don't want to haste/refresh people and the idea of main healing makes me cry! :P

Campaign on RDM = win, especially if you are in Jugner when it's a bit less crowded than usual. Reraise if you go /WHM, Cure IV, all the other buffs, Sleep and Sleep 2... sooo much fun. While it would probably take me an hour to kill most of the non-NM Orcs, I can keep them busy for as long as needed to kill off other mobs.

I generally go /WHM for Reraise and the occasional Curaga, but /DRK would be fun, too, with Stun and ABS spells and the Attack Bonus. I have capped Sword skill but no merits in it (though I do hava a Suppanomimi), and I have absolutely no problems hitting the non-NM mobs with no ACC gear.

Also, after having tried several different ones, I've found Enwater makes a difference. Orcs are weak to Water, and the other En-spells don't have as much of an additional effect. It's fantastic for keeping up the damage when a NM like Conqueror B goes Invincible, though you don't get any TP.

One-Eyed, whichever of them spams Battle Dance, is a blast on RDM. You still need a healer, but with Stoneskin, you can more or less outlast everyone.

The Warmachine still sucks ass, however, and I stay the hell away from it.

Also, I'm going to have to go back and read the specific book titles you mentioned. Need new reading material!

Yeah, /WHM is what I'm waiting for so that I can RR. I feel helpless without that. "Can't run away from everyone! What if I die?"

Yeah, enwater is what I'm using as well, for that same reason.
