I'm so excited! And nervous! A bunch of folks who staffed on the MUSH I used to run are all going to a new game together, and I have my app done! Well, written anyway, tomorrow I need to reread it and make sure it's okay.

It's cool that I'm getting to do the OC who has been rattling around in my head for weeks now. I hope he's going to be fun to play. :D Heck, I hope I can play! It's been so long since I last RPed, it's daunting to go back to it.

I wish they didn't just check apps once a week, I have a whooooole week to wait to hear back!

I hope I can make time to play, too. That might be the roughest part. I can be logged on from work, but in the evening at home? I have to see if MUSHclient has a trigger you can set up to play a sound file when someone pages you, so that maybe I can do both it and FFXI at the same time. (I think it does, I need to poke around the help files to find out how.)

RL kicked my ass six ways to Sunday today. I went in for an oil change, so I didn't bring a book because it would take, what, 15? 20? minutes. Turns out I was there for two hours and it cost me $500. GAH. I needed 4 new tires and a bunch of other stuff. And while I was sitting there waiting? Oddly the only magazines they had to read were Vibe. o.O That was a wacky experience, and I must have looked odd sitting there reading it.

At lunchtime I went grocery shopping. I had been needing to go for two weeks now, so I bought a ton of stuff. I brought it home, sorted what needed to go in the fridge/freezer/neither, then went back to work. Somehow I forgot to put everything in the fridge/freezer and it sat out for five hours. :(

I'm going to blame that brainfart on the fact that I got one single hour of sleep last night. Last summer/fall I complained to the apartment management about the loud air conditioner unit (all of them are on the other side of my bedroom wall, less than a foot from my bed). I was promised it was fixed, but winter came before I could confirm that. (It's not my apartment's unit.) So it was hot yesterday, neighbor turned on their AC, and there went the noise. Kept me up all night. I called the super today. If they don't get it fixed, I'm going to have to move out. I'm not overly attached to this apartment (though I do like the location, it's a nice street), but I hate hate hate moving. (For those in the area, I'm semi-considering mallen's old complex, the one on Lawerence. Wherever I move, having a washer and dryer in the apartment is a must. Washer/dryer, AC, cat_OK are my three must-haves.) I really, really hope I don't have to move. I hate packing so much, not to mention disrupting my life. :/

So anyway, bad RL day = little done on FFXI. All I did was my "daily work" -- guild turn in on FB, chocobo digging, H&C. Nothing else! Or at least no other "work", so since I had free time and was trying to relax, I joined in the weekly LS Eco Warrior run. That was nice, though I'm really feeling slacker-ish. :P Besieged is building now, so all I have to do is sit back and watch TV while I wait for it!

Agreed. My app is a lot longer than the example one, but probably not to our old standards. I hope it doesn't get kicked back for being too short. :/

The background was the hardest part, only because I don't feel like I know their world well enough. It's a really nicely made website, but it could use more info.

These were both gripes I had as well. So I logged onto the MUSH and looked at a couple profiles, which didn't help quite as much as I was hoping.

I just want somewhere, anywhere, to play. Heck, I might even have gone to a real furry place, if I could get good RP there. :/ While it's not my first choice, I can work with "furry pokemon thing" as a theme -- I like describing actions/body language, and something animal-ish would be able to do lots of that.

I was kind of confused as to if all apps should be SENT on Saturday or what. Either way, I only have a bit more tweaking to do on mine.

Hung around the MUSH itself a bit. Loooooots of players (their 'most connected' record was 202!). I +fingered a bunch of people (hurrrr) and for the most part they seemed to have a good grasp on grammar and solid, interesting characters. There was another Guest on who asked a ton of questions and the admins were prompt with answering and seemed very professional.

Wow, that's good to hear. I poked my head in for a few seconds this morning to make sure my name wasn't taken, and was quickly greeted by someone (I didn't check to see if it was a staffer or not).

I'm going to send mine in tomorrow. I hope that's okay.

A lot of stuff in the app was confusing. Did you read the attack section at the end? It said you could have "any/all" of the natural attacks, then at the bottom it said only four. So... is it four or all? :/ Since the example app had four... um, plus three... I did four natural attacks and two TM ones. I hope that's okay...

I didn't notice that the example app had more than four attacks until you pointed it out. That is confusing. I had assumed the any/all meant you could pick any combo of four... but now I'm baffled too. I can log on and ask them if you want?

Only if you want to know for you, too! I tried to explain how I was picking when I wrote that part of the app, and said if I had too many I'd be totally willing to delete some.

OK, we were both reading it wrong.

Per the helpful MUSH folks: "PokeMorph can know any and all attacks learned by a 'mon of their species, and then, ON TOP OF THAT, they can get the (up to four) various TMs or HMs."

So. From what I'm understanding. You can have as many natural attacks as you want but you're limited to four TM/HM attacks. So what you have sounds fine.

It seems to say any/all natural attacks (so long as it's the list from one game, not a mix/match between movesets), plus up to four TM/HM/egg moves. The "only four moves" thing at the end is only referring to non-morphic pokemon, if I recall correctly.

That's one of the things where the lack of examples is bothering me, though; I'd like to know what is a good number of starting moves to have, if it affects judgement of the app, or if I should just put them all down.

MUSHclient does seem to have audio triggers. I did a quick Google search and a screenshot of the menu was the first thing that popped up. It's rather old, though.

Eek, long app waits always give me butterflies. I usually end up sending it in the night (or in one case, two minutes) before the deadline so I won't spend the next few days squirming every time I load up my inbox. I hope you have fun on your new game!

I didn't post because it's potentially embarrassing. It's another Pokemon place, sort of. Pokemon-human morphs... which of course would ding 'furry!' for anyone on the Internet. :/ It's not my first choice of themes, but it's something I can work with.

Guh, I had this window open for a long time, apparently. I figured out where you were playing from the posts above. I have a charbit there, but I don't really use him anymore (I simply didn't feel that I was doing him justice).

Regarding applications there: the staff actually prefer shorter applications, so you should have no issue at all getting in. I remember hearing something about them wanting to implement a word limit on the apps so they wouldn't receive any more 121kb monstrosities, but I guess things must have fixed themselves.

Have fun there! There are a lot of cool players (and a lot of completely insane or stupid ones, but I'm sure you can pick those out on your own), and I do know at least one old PokeMUSH player who still hangs around the place.

I've mostly made the decision that at this time, I won't be going with you guys to the MUSH. However, you wouldn't believe how relieved I am that there's so much interest in our old little crowd to keep on going. How long has it been, five, six years? And yet, looking at all these comments, all these old friends in one spot again, on another Pokemon MUSH...

My RP platter is currently too full, but it's... you know, it's nice to know that one day, if and when I part ways with World of Warcraft, it's good to know that there might be someplace to go, if this works out for you guys. (After all, knowing our crowd, MUSHes can be a two, three, or four year commitment, not just a "three month" venture!) I'm nearly positive after I'm done with WoW I'll find a MUSH to play on, and if you guys are still interested when that day comes, I'll see you guys there.

From what I remember of where Mark and I used to live, it was nice. (I moved out in 2001, though!) Quiet, decent neighbors, no crazies. And having a staffed office that can hold packages for you was really nice. Did have washer/dryer in unit, too! Not the cheapest complex to live in, but other than rent day it was pleasant.

Yeah, I recall it as being nice, from the few times I visited. It's somewhat more expensive than my current place, but it offers so much more the difference is okay. (It just pains me to think I could rent a large house elsewhere in the country for what I'm paying for a one-bedroom apartment here. One day I'll move somewhere more reasonable.)
