Three years ago I got a clear on Dynamis Sandy. Tonight I got a clear on Bastok. I seriously doubt I'll do another Dynamis for three more years. Unfortunately my opinion of it was exactly the same as it had been three years ago: Way too long and boring as all hell. zzzz
Plus sides of the night: Got the clear, yay! Got DRK AF2 feet (embarrassing, since I'm not going back, but a crapton of AF2 dropped including three free lot DRK feet, so...). And the most important of all: I didn't die! Yay! (Pirates are hard to kill~! Eh, other than those ones in that BC.)
I hadn't known so much AF2 could drop in one night. 12 pieces, I think they said? 3 DRK feet, 1 THF body, 1 RDM hands, 3 MNK feet(?), 2 PLD head. Hm, that's ten. Well two more of something else! Oh, one BLM pants too. Oh! Some SMN part was the last one (hands?).
A ton of Wootz Ores dropped too, which lead to one of my issues with the whole event. Seriously, 30 or more of them must have dropped, and each one was worth around 200K. All that money went to one person. (All the one bill things went to him, too.) AF2 is nice and all, but I strongly do not feel that all that money is equal to the chance of PCs maybe getting one AF2 piece. I strongly, strongly, strongly disagree with that, probably more than anything else in all of FFXI. ("So Thistle, don't go on runs like that!" Yeah, I know I know.) If I were to do this on a regular basis, I'd rather see all the money drops sold and used to fund future runs, PCs paying to make up the difference if necessary.
Screenshots!
I didn't even try my AF2 DRK feet on, just stuck them on my DRK mannequin. Forgive him for not wearing pants, but he's an elvaan and all~.
This statue thing was really cool. Heck, a lot of the models were cool (other than the ones recycled for Campaign c.c ). I liked all the statue things with glowing eyes. They'd be cool to have in your moghouse! Rattling around and glowing at night.
And lastly, YAY! Fishingbot got his apron today! He and the NPC match rather well. :D His apron brings me up to almost a million and a half guild points turned in (1.49 million). I have no idea what else I'm going to get on him. In theory, he really needs nothing so I could stop now, but... I'll probably get at least his gloves. The woodworking MH item (drawing table) is the coolest of the MH items, so I might get that too. :/
So tired. I didn't even get a lunch break at work, was in almost four hours total of meetings, then four hours of Dynamis. zzzz Never again!

Date: 2008-05-07 06:29 am (UTC)I'm like, not even at 10,000 points yet with woodworking, although I hit 59 earlier today. I've been ponder how much money I want to sink into the next little bit, if I should go head strong and sink 10 levels in demon arrows or find a bridge synth...pretty sure I could at least sell the demon arrows to my one LS leader if anything.
Also, completely agree with you about dynamis. It's too much time and work for the reward you get. Although if I ever find an LS that does alot of CoP dyna I would do it religiously just to get my hands on the valor cape *Drool*

Date: 2008-05-07 11:22 am (UTC)Drop rates in CoP Dynamis zones make Xarc look like the land of milk and honey. Also, I don't know if/where it drops in other areas, but I know that the cape drops in Dy-Bubu off the Efts. They are poisoning, stunning, dispeling bastards.
The Dyna group I run with got one recently. It was my first run with them, and they were all shocked to get it. They've done Bubu many times, and that's the first time it's dropped.

j/k, but... wow, that's quite impressive. I've never seen more than 3-4 total pieces drop in a CoP Dynamis run unless we get a run on a specific piece, like RNG belts.

Date: 2008-05-07 01:31 pm (UTC)The boots were interesting though, we zoned into Dyna-Qufim, I said to a couple people in my Vent "You know what would be funny? If the -1 boots dropped right now." and they did.

Date: 2008-05-07 03:53 pm (UTC)I don't recall if I did a bridge or not, but either way at least demon arrows sell well at the AH. Best selling ammo I've made thus far, I think.

Date: 2008-05-07 11:19 am (UTC)That's... not cool, nor is it the norm. Lotting the currency is not unusual. You pay for the hourglass, you get all the singles. In some shells, you also get at least one 100 if it drops, sometimes all 100s that drop in the event you get more than one.
But the crafting materials? While I have heard of shells where you must set your comment to lot the crafting mats, most shells just let that stuff auto-distribute.
Also, what the hell was this person wearing for gear that they had the inventory space to lot all the ores?

Date: 2008-05-07 03:52 pm (UTC)Even if the ores and other stuff had free lotted/auto-distributed, my chances of getting something were pretty slim. There were 36 people there (my god, so many), so 1/36 chance...

Not much, apparently!

Date: 2008-05-07 06:46 pm (UTC)The LS pays for the hourglass, so it gets all the currency items. However LS members can choose to lot synth materials if they don't want any AF from the zone. That way people who don't need AF will still show up in the hope of phat lewts.
It is kind of shitty that a sponsor would take the crafting items. Are you sure that person wasn't the LS leader? Some LSes lot and sell all crafting items to fund later runs, particularly Northlands and CoP which can get expensive if you do them a lot.

Date: 2008-05-07 09:11 pm (UTC)Wow, I like that idea a lot. One of the (many) things keeping me from wanting to go is that I don't need/want any AF2. (COR is the only one I want, but... you know... not in the game yet.) So what's the point of me going, other than to waste time and lose XP?

Hmm, actually, no, I don't know that. Oddly, I knew only two people in the whole run, and I had been asked to go only hours before. (I knew one of the people off-game, that's how I was asked.)
The whole night was rather odd. I've been playing this game for four years, on the same server, and I recognized none of the 36 names other than my two friends. Not just not knowing the people, I've never even seen their names around. Previous to last night I wouldn't have thought there were 30-something 75s on the server that I had never seen!
