It's hard being an antisocial person playing social game (FFXI)

I decided to work on SAM again tonight. The new rings would make it less painful and I really should have it as a sub for DRK. So I put up my flag. Hour later got an invite. Amazingly, the party was okay! A WAR/NIN and I co-tanked, the newbie WHM rocked, and everything was going fine (made 100% more fine by use of the ring!). Drool:


Eventually we moved to GC (ugh, hate that place) and that's when things started to fall apart. The WAR/NIN had to go. The party spread was 30-34 -- the poor newbie WHM was the only 30 one (little guy probably didn't know XP was supposed to be better), and the melees were all 33-34. Leader invited a WAR/THF 30 to tank. I kindly pointed out that that would not work so well. (The bats in GC were kicking our asses as it was.) So he decided to invite his friend:


Being nicer than the situation called for, I explained that I wasn't willing to party with something that gimp, apologized, and disbanded. The entire party argued that I was in the wrong.


Their logic was both stunning and flawless:

I was tired of looking at the terrible horrible ugliness that was my armor and just gave up for the night. (Go ahead, just flip that flap up! You know you want to~!)

Started at barely a buffer into 32, ended about halfway into 34. Hopefully I can finish it this weekend.

I'm not sure if he meant she had a level 75 WHM PL or if he meant the gimp NIN had WHM leveled to 75 on herself... The guy was really, really hard to understand.

There was no subjob when the game came out? I find that hard to believe. The subjob system is the whole point of FFXI.

I would be ashamed to try and party if I had such a gimped sub-job. :)

When I played I /always/ kept my subjob at or close to cap, and I always made sure my gear was as good as I could get. I often had scrolls for new spells in case I leveled, tons of meds...

I wish the game was less roadblock-ish. :(

And sure, when the game first came out, nobody had a subjob! ...for less than a day, probably, when the first people hit 18 and started the quest. Early FFXI must've been odd, what with people having to figure out all the quests and missions.

But this is not early FFXI, so. I'd be lenient on someone who was dinged in a party and ended up being a level off, but *eleven*?

Admittedly, I have gone to missions with my underlevelled /NIN, but only because we absolutely positively needed /NIN, and I'm at least making an effort to work on it. You don't want me to go on another BCNMs screwing me over trying to get Utsu: Ni rant, though. ;p

You should save yourself the trouble (and be glad your avatar is male) and just add Supermadx to your /blist now. Another enlightening "conversation" I've had with him is that sending /tells to Mithra in Windurst to say that he'd like to bang them (in much cruder terms) would count has sexual harrassment and the GMs might possibly frown on that if enough people reported his scrawny hide. In fact, I have yet to see any evidence whatsoever that Supermadx isn't a waste of air, which I suppose makes it a good thing that Vana'diel is virtual and that isn't a problem for him.
