Okay, so it's only indirectly CoP's fault, but it's fun blaming something you hate! This weekend was so very amazingly annoying. The last of the Three Paths path was supposed to be Saturday morning. I got up at 7 AM. Got to the BC 15 minutes early. Waited. Waited. Waited. Two hours later someone from the static finally logged on and asked me what I was doing there. o.O I was told the mission was rescheduled until Sunday and no one told me. ><
Sunday morning, alarm went off at 7 AM again. >< I had wanted to go to the farmer's market, but stupid CoP mission. Got to the BC 15 minutes early. Waited. Waited. Waited. Three hours later static members started logging on. I was pissed, but they were repeating this mission just for me so how much could I say? Three hours after the starting point, they started muling and shopping and stuff. Half-hour later no one had left the city, so I asked how it was going.
"Static tank has Einjar(whatever) and she'll be another hour. We'll go when she's done."
Fuck that shit. Excuse the language, but I was ready to explode. I thanked them and dropped out of the static. I spent more than five hours standing at a damned zoneline in the Maze this weekend. The static leader was surprised I was dropping. He actually thought it was about additional the hour wait for the tank. Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, over. (You'll recall that last weekend they were two hours late for the mission, too. This was not a one-time happening.)
They are nice people, two of them /telled me multiple times during the day asking if I'd let them set it up for next weekend instead, but what's the point? I hated CoP going into this, I had only accepted the invite into the group because I thought it would be good to work with the people. It's been nothing but stress and annoyance. To do something I hate. So why stick with it?
So, no more CoP for me. Forget it. I should have just stuck with that to begin with and not gotten myself involved with this at all.
It also pisses me off that I let the game make me miss something I wanted and needed to do RL. Hell, not even the game, being blown off and made to stand around wasting hours of time for nothing. I really needed to get to the farmer's market this weekend, I needed fruit and veggies. I bet the cherries are still good and maybe corn on the cob is in season by now, but instead my time was wasted by people with no respect for their "friends".
Grrrr.
(Usually I worry the wrong people will see my posts when I'm mad about something, but in this case I wish they would. How can you not understand that wasting five hours of someone's time is disrespectful and would make them angry! How can you not understand, when you yourself slept until 1 PM that making someone get up at 7 AM twice would be annoying!!)

Date: 2008-06-16 04:22 am (UTC)My offer still stands though, if you want to hit me up, I need to take Paks through CoP too. =p And there's some others in my LS who need to go as well. I know you said you're done, but there's nothing like fast and free access to a cheaper AH than Whitegate that's Jeuno-based!

Date: 2008-06-16 04:24 am (UTC)And thanks, but I can't even think about CoP right now. :/ Horrible weekend, and now I get to go back to work where a bad week is waiting for me.

Date: 2008-06-16 07:19 pm (UTC)I ran into that problem a lot myself with CoPs and the later TAU missions. Hell, I tried helping friends with missions I had done, set everything up weeks in advance, and they still didn't show or would arrive some number of hours late. It makes you begin to despise your friends who you otherwise enjoy, but in this one area are disgusting flaky excuses for human beings. So taking breaks when you need to is a VERY good idea.
If it's any consolation, the CoP story gets really good. Being a mission whore myself who loves story, I have to say CoP is still the best out there. Though WotG is starting to come up to a nice second if they'd ever release anymore freakin missions.
If you like story too and want something a little less... frustrating, have you done all the quests in Tavnazian Safehold? Lots of very good, but heartbreaking tales in that place.

Yeah! Back when I first got access, years ago. Great, sad stories! :D

Date: 2008-06-17 04:38 pm (UTC)Yeah, if I do it, it'll probably be with Achi. She's good people! :D
Sounds like token CoP!
Date: 2008-06-17 03:50 am (UTC)I hated CoP my first round through, but yeah , things like what you are saying is why I make sure I lead a lot of things, helps to know the people a bit too , for example when there's an LS signup sheet for stuff, there's 2 people I know that if they sign their name, I simply ignore it because they either do no-shows to events or will come for 30mins before their truck gets leukaemia and they have to perform a hysterectomy on it.
If those two people wanted to join for my CoP static, I would have flat out told them that I need people who I know can be there, not someone who'll afk halfway through the BC and autofollow us to the areas :p
I've been leading the CoP missions (organisation wise) , however people who knew the promy zones more than I did for example, were leading the path / strategy on boss.
While I hate gloating, leading is something I will say I'm good at, and I'm one of those people who have the "If I'm not in charge, I can't stand it" guys (not to say I'm a control freak! I let other people in the LS lead when I know they're responsible/capable enough to do so, and gladly sit in the back and do what they ask of me, that too is part of leading :P)
The run I'm having through CoP at the moment is nothing short of amazing. I'm having a lot of fun, people respect that I want to watch the CS's because I'm taking down notes (on that note, the story is actually good when you know what's going on). They don't mind that I'm going to stop or take longer getting through that door , because I've told them this in advance, I'll let them know everything that's going on, or even if there's the most insignificant chance I won't be able to make it on that day. I find it frustrating when "ME players"* try to get things done in the game, and just waste peoples time (such as yourself).
*ME player - they play the game for themselves obviously , but disregard other people or not even factor them in any plans. Occasionally play the "Sorry I'm just a girl teehee ~.^" when they get in a smidgeon of confrontation, this applies to guys too!
Re: Sounds like token CoP!
Date: 2008-06-17 04:33 pm (UTC)We'd work well together! I'm happy to follow (so long as the leader isn't clueless), I'm on time, I never AFK, and I don't even own a truck let alone know how to preform a hysterectomy! :P Heck, I like being a follower, because I know that being a good follower is just as important as being a good leader (too many cooks...).
The guy leading that CoP static is a friend, I had been in an XP static with him and he hadn't been like this at all. He even called his shell a "professional" CoP shell. I just don't get it...
Occasionally play the "Sorry I'm just a girl teehee ~.^
God, I hate that. Only people who follow my LJ know my RL gender. I let/encourage everyone on the game assume I'm male. I do not want special treatment for any RL element, gender or otherwise! There's so much less drama when people assume you're a guy. (I know you have no reason to talk about me on BG, but please don't bring this up there at all.)
