Okay, no, I can't claim that with a straight face. However, I'm amazingly frustrated at the moment and wish I could stop.

Breaksynthing iron-splitters was recommended for wood 95-100, even though it takes an adaman ingot. I filled up FB's moghouse with the strongest wind moghancement possible. He's within five levels of item cap.

First round: 2 ingots, 44K each. I got three synths out of them, zero skillups.
Second round: 4 ingots, 42K each. I got four synths out of them, zero skillups.

Almost 300K lost for nothing. I do not have the money for this crap. (LS guy claimed he got five full levels out of two stacks of ingots.)

I wish I could stop and leave FB at 95, right now there's nothing at 100 that I'd like to make, but it will gnaw at me if I don't finish him. :/ It's killing me that stupid Chaser's gold is at 94 (even though it's amazingly smart to stop there, it still kills me).

Stupid crafting. Darned game. It's been a rather frustrating last few days.

Edit: Good news though, too! [livejournal.com profile] xvolph moved to Midgar tonight, yay! We snapped her right up into our LS. :D

I did alchemy a while ago , stopped at 92 because
1st ) I looked at the later synths and "What things are t1/2/3 hq'able for money? and LOL'd

2nd ) RNG nerf killed my cash cows, people weren't buying gil to shoot delicious silver bullets at monsters anymore, and that killed one market

3rd ) Same nerfed killed hawker's knife market

I've wanted to go back and finish it to 100 so I can say I have a 100 craft, but the one I chose is so worthless that I don't particularly care about it, lol. I'm thinking of doing leather to a decent lvl on my taru, so I can park him in a zone, while I farm on LW, he can lot on all the skins + make stacks for AH - however I barely have time to do everything in XI so I am doubtful about me doing that.

I'm different than most people when it comes to crafting. I don't do it to make money. I do it because I "enjoy" skilling (ha ha ha, shoot me now). Okay, most times I enjoy skilling, then I get into periods like this where it kills me.

2nd ) RNG nerf killed my cash cows, people weren't buying gil to shoot delicious silver bullets at monsters anymore, and that killed one market

Hate that nerf so much. I used to spend entire days at a time (16 hours on a weekend day) making ammo and it all sold as fast as I could craft/list it. I still make a lot of my money through ammo sales, but it's soooooo slow and the profit is so much tighter. :/

I know. Just being able to say you have one at 100 (not to mention that that's sig-worthy) counts for a lot. :/

To me, alchemy wouldn't be worthless, but only because I could use it to help my LS. (We just finished another round of o-hat runs, 30 hats this time, so lots of eye clusters needed to be made.) Profit-wise? Yeah, it's one of the rougher ones. Not impossible to make money in, but not hand-over-fist anymore. :/

Even though leather was my first craft to 100, I'll always have such sour memories of it. I took it to 85 while my highest job was WHM 30-something. (No PL, no second character, no dual boxing, just WHM 30-ish and nothing else.) It was so amazingly hard to level a craft when you couldn't farm! (Know how long it took me to hammer a single dhalmel to death in the Canyon?) But I hated XPing and didn't want to spend my time doing that...

If you had the time for it, I bet skilling it with your plan would totally rock, especially since you'd be farming with TH4.

19 hats, Thistle. If it had been 30, I probably would have gone insane long before we finished. ;p

19? I could have sworn I saw 30 in the lsmes! Oh well, guess I'm losing my mind (or eyesight) in my old age!

Crafting is so arbitrary that I don't doubt for a second that what worked for one person will not work at all for another. So I don't think he was lying to you when he told you that. ;p

But yeah, take a break. Go defend San D'Oria[S]. Show [livejournal.com profile] xvolph around. Do fun things!

While there is randomness to it, there are rules that it follows. (Moghancement, days of the week mattering, moon phase, etc.) However, my sample size is small enough that it could be just random chance, yeah. However, having nothing to show for 300K gil loss makes me unwilling to test this further.

Bah. :/
