I think (fictional) biker gangs are the sexiest things ever. The brotherhood, the leather, the motorcycles, how close the men are to each other. I love books and movies about them, and I ran a nearly year-long MUSH TP surrounding one. Now the FX channel is hopefully going to make me a very happy viewer!

Sons of Anarchy looks like it could be great, though I'm not 100% confident of that. The behind-the-scenes video calls it a biker club "with a hip-hop feel". I wish the main character looked rather different, too. I like my bikers to be big, either muscle or beer bellies are fine by me, and dark. Main character there is a tad too 'pretty boy' for me, and blond doesn't really work for me either.

Oh well, I'm going to cross my fingers and hope for the best! It's FX channel this fall for me!

FFXI: Man, I keep thinking my days can't get any worse and then they do.

Logged on: Undead Besieged attacking, trolls prepping at 8. Since I never have time to Campaign anymore, zipped off to Besieged. Asked around, turned out the attack just started. Yay! Battled for 55 minutes... then POL died. >< Dammit. Trolls took forever to advance, so I was only able to fight for 45 minutes before I had to leave. Parked myself in a safe corner. Sometime in the next 15 minutes my connection to POL died. Fuck me with a fork, hours wasted. Grrr.

Also, I'm done synthing for non-LS people. Over the weekend I told Sivara(SP?) from CTY that I'd do her synth, but she'll be the last one. It's just not worth it. Having to run around, having to mule when I'm in the middle of other stuff, having people make me wait, getting stiffed on tips, getting endlessly bugged if I'm free to synth, it's all just not worth the rare good tip. I'm tired of people acting like my time is worth nothing, that I should be thankful to be crafting for them. That's exactly opposite how it should be. I did three synths for non-LS people today, and all three of them had some/all of those bad elements. Enough. ...Hell, or maybe I should just set some high price for all non-LS synths, the people can't stiff me and most would just go away on their own. That might be a better idea... (Ha ha, I feel like what's his name, with the 'No tip = blacklist' line in his bazaar comment.) I think 50K for any synth worth less than a million gil, 50K additional for each million it's worth. Ha ha, I like that!

I'm feeling better already~

Why are you bending your back for others. If they want you to synth then they should abide by YOUR RULES and YOUR TIME. If you're free now, then synth now else wait until the next time you're free.

Yeah. I try to be nice, I try to help people, but it comes back and bites me in the ass almost every time. No more Mr. Nice Guy!

Only reason I didn't tip initially, is because I've never paid people to make things for me. I've never charged people for things I've cooked, never really saw the point in it. I just say "give me supplies and I'll do it" and its not a big deal. So yeah, my fault on the synthing thing, can't always trust what wiki says unfortunately. Anyways, sorry for the trouble w/ the synthesis, it really wasn't intentional~

Not to sound rude, but 100+ cooks are a dime a dozen compared to 100s in other crafts, and requested synths don't generally cost more than 100k. Granted, cooking synths are usually the annoying ones with a bajillion (or 7) ingredients and multiple steps, but the sacarity of other crafts offset this. Compounded by the sudden (and huge) influx of behemoth hides from the bonanza, and you have enough bees swarming like the only WHM in Whitegate doing teles. (woo mixed metaphors!)

Wish you're on Lakshmi Thistle, my LS has someone in just about every craft except leather --; Maybe you should charge 10-15% of what the item costs on AH for gratuity XD

Yeah, its true there are a ton of veteran cooks compared to other crafts, I know that :p. Though I think you missed my point, I was just apologizing to Thistle lol. The synth I needed cost me a few thousand gil tops, cause I farmed half the supplies. It was one of those items that is NEVER on ah, so I really had to get it synthed. I don't charge for teleports, if I had 100 in every craft I wouldn't charge people for synths, but that's just me. I wasn't aware of his specific crafting rules, but now I know >.o.

I had said that once as well. Heck, for years I never charged even random strangers. But once you experience the abuse (abuse of time, of skill, of many things) you lose the desire to help for free. I have been left standing in the guild for 30+ minutes waiting for people to show up who wanted a synth. I've been left standing for an hour while people have to keep running to this city or that because they "forgot" something or made some mistake. I've had a crapton of people who never paid me. Who never thanked me. Daily, daily!, I have people who ask me multiple times "Are you free yet?" "Can you synth for me yet?" "lol what are you doing that's more important?". All that crap, and not a single gil offered in return. Do you understand how insulting that feels? My time has value. My skill has value. People expect to get all that and be thanked by me and give nothing in return. And lord help me if I fail the synth and lose something!

I wasn't aware of his specific crafting rules, but now I know >.o.

That kind of surprises me. Do you only read my posts now and then? :P I've ranted multiple times in the last short while about people not tipping, abusing my time, etc...

I suppose my opinion of others asking me for "things to make" would change, if I was asked constantly. Or left waiting for someone, when I could be doing something useful. No doubt I would be annoyed by that, I can see where you're coming from. The give:take ratio is definitely uneven in this game, even outside of crafting. But I really do give free teleports, so if I'm around you can ask me for one if needed. I just don't shout that I give free ones, cause it makes the other whms angry :o.

Honestly I usually just skim your posts, and some I won't read, cause I'm just pretty lazy :x. But that goes for any posts from anyone really.

What he said.

And that's too much work! My flat 50K fee seems to be working. I got asked for two more synths last night and both went away upon hearing the charge. Yay!

That's be Semitry. "no tip = instant blacklist" in Bazaar comment.

I wonder if I qualify as being on FI or not... Hmm! I have a post that says I am!

But, seriously, your terms when I've seen have been fine. I recall them summarizing as "Tip what you feel is worthwhile. Come to where I say, when I say. Don't drag me anywhere until you have all the ingredients ready."

Not everyone can match your dedication to crafting, so it's fair for them to compensate you for your time, especially when they're merely acquaintances or strangers, and it's appropriate to treat all three categories differently as far as terms.

Ah, Semitry! Right. I hate to sound that negative about crafting, but more and more I can see his POV on things...

"Tip what you feel is worthwhile. Come to where I say, when I say. Don't drag me anywhere until you have all the ingredients ready."

Yeah, that's what it had been, though in the last few months it's boiled down to just the first sentence. (Lord knows why, I'm sick of having to run hither and yonder for other people.) 'Tip what you think is fair' has stopped working though. Getting tipped 50 gil, not 50K, 50 gil, is worse than getting nothing. "Gee, thanks, a few more synths and I can ride an airship!"

Bah. I hate being so ranty about this. Maybe once the lottery hides all dry up things will get better.

50k is completely fair for a under 1mil synth. Meo used to charge me that for Blacksmithing synths and I had no problem with that. When Samadams did my Kyudogi I tipped him 100k for it and felt I was ripping him off ^^; But he said it was okay because he got a .1 off of it x.x (He's cloth 99+3).

You should let me tip you. Or at least give you crystals D: They're shiny if not a bit fish-scented >.>a
