The most interesting part of the day was our Double Dragonian runs. Someone had the nerve to beat our record from last week, so it was a matter of honor that we take it back! Other person's record: 4:40, our first new one: 3:20 (with some buffing and stuff). Take that, person we don't know! But better than resetting the record, we discovered how fun it was to go balls to the wall on this. Taking care about hate? Who needs it when the dragon would be dead before it could do much! And it was surprisingly fun to be chased around the BC by them. :D

I finally made an effort to get a screenshot of it, though because of the cone AoE I was never in front of it. Elves shoot so much cooler than Humes. :( If I ever had to reroll in FFXI, I'd be amazingly tempted to be an elf so I could grope myself have all the cool poses. One day I'll have to ask a RNG why they don't use guns more than crossbows. Better DoT, I guess? But guns generally do more damage per shot? I've always wondered that, especially since RNGs get better bullets than CORs.

Everyone who needed a Dissector got one, so the rest of them went freelot. Isn't it a cool looking sword? I'm tempted to unlock it (500 WS points) just based on looks, but unfortunately COR can't use it (BRD and RDM can though). Boo.

This was highly amusing:

There had been a big big big argument on the LS boards as to the weapon being worth unlocking or not (please please please do not tell me your opinion on the matter), so it's kind of amusing that I lotted so well for it. :P 500 WS points to unlock it. Unfortunately not likely to happen no matter if it's worth it or not.

I (finally) cleared my gun of trials tonight (soloed the last 150 WS points), so I was able to get inventory +1 once I handed it in. Next up: 500 points to unlock my Subduer. :/ All this is after I soloed 500 points to unlock my Coffenmaker, and 500 on my axe. I'm so tired of these weapons that need to be broken!

Lastly, I found a NM on the way to the BC. Thousandarm Someoneorother. Usually it wouldn't be worth posting, except how I killed him. Wiki lists him as having 400 HP. Heehee, overkill anyone? Pow pow pow!

Chocbucks update: 900 gotten, 100 to go. x.x

RP: Yay! Finally got a little scene. Was getting twitchy! It's been a couple days! *bouncie*

I wouldn't say big big big. Maybe just medium big big.

That's one of those simple words that starts to sound funny the more you say it. Big.

Wow. I've seen the term jamais vu before (in a fictional short story), but I didn't know it's a real phenomenon. O.o

No, it was very big and I felt bad that people were arguing over it because of me. I don't like seeing people argue! I want everyone to get along and be happy! :P

Add. Effect Bolts? Maybe? Or perhaps they are all just so broke after getting the job to 75 that they are trying to recoup their gil before going balls to the walls on the pricey bullets.

I'm personally surprised by the whole marksmanship fad in RNG land. Especially when I look at my buddy who parses like 1/4 of the damage on any given kirin run and uses a bow o.O Oh well, not like I play the job or anything whatever works and makes shit dead I suppose.

See, that's not a valid reason to me. If you don't want to shoot gil, then level WAR or something like that. If you want to play RNG (or COR), you have to be aware and ready to drop a load of cash on ammo. If you're not willing to do that, go level something else.

Effect bolts is a good thought, I hadn't considered that.

Well, Elves look pretty awkward sometimes. I have to admit their shooting animation is a lot better, though. :/

As for Rangers not using guns... Cost is obviously a factor (and it's certainly a factor with me), but it's not the only one. You will do more damage per shot with guns; however, the delay is also longer. There is also the matter of hate control. Unless you're in a static, you can't control what kind of a tank you'll get—certainly not the quality of the tank. Using gun may be fun...but I wouldn't be comfortable unless I know I have a decent Paladin backing me up.

Yeah, that makes sense. I never random party, so I forgot that element of it. If I ever leveled RNG, it would be in a LS party, and I'm so used to paying for bullets on COR I could easily be a gun RNG and not notice a difference. (Somehow I shot almost a whole stack of steel bullets at this week's DD run! *boggle* There goes my profit! :P :D But the damage is so fun that it's worth it.)

Well, static or not, if you're a gun RNG, you're going to place a degree of stress on your tank. So there's that.

The delay is also significantly longer, which is a factor if you're pulling. Pulling safely and efficiently is considerably harder when you're using a gun.

Guns are highly situational for a RNG. I think there are times when using a gun would be *awesome*, but just as often it feels like a situational weapon for a situational job. That's why, I suspect, that most RNG FAQs do not recommend guns in XP parties. I know I would be useful in most XP settings with bows or crossbows + status bolts; to bring yet another weapon plus ammo for something that might be completely awesome only some of the time is a bit silly.

(I just noticed that I used the word "also" in consecutive sentences in my earlier comment. Bad Quistie!!!)

Oh, true, I hadn't thought about pulling. It's not like you could switch between weapons just for doing that!

I'm in agreement entirely with Quistie. High delay and cost of bullets is a huge factor in why more RNGs don't use guns. The cost is actually why my COR is stuck at 50 right now. Maybe I should take that up /BRD in Campaign. >_> Hmm.

Also agree with Vel, status bolts are nice.

So far, I've refused to use crossbows. => I like my bow! Plus, I think I look a lot cooler with a bow than a crossbow. =D

As for the KSNM latent weapons, I believe that you should unlock onl-*gets shot*

Ha ha ha. :P

I guess letting cost come into the decision makes sense in random parties and such. :/

Yeah, even though I have a ton of arrows right now, I can't stand to be in a terrible party. =/

Speaking of which...*hides stacks upon stacks of arrow quivers that are about to become outdated, but is still going to use* >_>
