Lord knows why I ever try to random party. I had a free night tonight, nothing planned, so I decided to work on PLD.

3.5 hours seeking. Tried to form parties, no go.
Finally got an invite. Waited an hour. One person was in Sandy and had no airship pass. I warped back to teleport her to the jungle. Two other newbies somehow took 40 minutes to ride from Jeuno to the Jungle in an airship.
Party finally started. Used my Anniversary Band. Still took an hour to get 5K XP.
Goblin aggroed. Being the stupid PLD I am, I voked it and ran. Even though I 2houred, I died before reaching the zoneline.
Deleveled.

Seriously. It took me more than five hours to get from PLD 25 to 26, then deleveled. ~.~ Got my level back, left the party.

I do like the job, but who can justify that kind of waste of time? A whole evening and what did I get?

The irony of all this is: I was going to log onto the MUX in hopes of RP, but said to myself 'Why sit there and probably get nothing, when I could log onto FFXI and accomplish stuff?'. Ha ha ha, joke's on me! I ended up wasting time anyway and didn't get to RP at all. :/

Edit: Yay, alchemy 87! Should be able to get my apron within a week, too!

Sad part is, the waiting time for PLD party just gets worse as you get higher level (70+). All your parties want you to go to Caedarva Mire too. D=

Best bet would to try to find a static if you can. =( Or con LS friends into level syncing with you. =o

I don't know if I'll ever get that high. I've always said I'd never deal with AF (the old/coffer kind) ever again, so I'd probably stop at 50 or so.

I really wish they would have adjusted the old AF -- "paying" for it, as in ToAU and Wings jobs, is so much better.

Yeah, if I were going to take it to 75, I'd look into making a static for it. Random parties are just too much to deal with.

Random parties are just too much to deal with.

They can be completely frustrating, no argument on that. One thing actually in their favor though (kind of): after dealing with all the BS and horrible noob-style playing when you're their tank . . . When you actually get to play PLD for 'shellmates and players who have even half a clue, you'll be able to do it that much better.

I'm definitely not saying 'it's easy' by any means, but it's certainly easier when your party is working with you, even a little.

Heh, that is a good point!

And happily one of the party members was better-than-noob status, he kept regen on me, which was a pretty nice thing. He also told the RDM not to cure me too early, so I could do it myself for hate.
