Or rather, two coats of different colors? Okay, stretching for a subject line there.

My Tidal Talisman arrived today! Man, is the RL item ugly. Really really big (nearly as long as my pinky) and really thick/wide made of ugly metal. Even if I wore jewelry, even if it were pretty, the size alone would make me unable to wear it.

The in-game item is darned cool, but... I sort of question spending $50 on it. It looks great, it's a unique model, it does a very handy thing... and I know I'd buy it again, but I just wish the RL necklace was better looking. Someone had suggested using it as a Christmas tree decoration, but even if I got a tree at Christmas (never do), it's too ugly for that.

The other coat is that Catsoup finally got his alchemy apron! At alchemy 88, which should be a crime. Alchemy's just so fast to level that GP making couldn't keep up. It looks really good on him, too. :D And that Catsoup is a Galka makes that statement mean something!

And hey, since we're talking about clothing, how about COR pants? I didn't sell my Akinji Salvars last night. Would you believe they actually cost more than the Dusk Trousers did? c.c I think I'm going to keep them and just macro as needed.
Akinji Salvars: DEF: 30, HP -12, Ranged Accuracy +3, Ranged Attack +4, Evasion +4
Dusk Trousers: DEF: 47, HP +35, Attack +14, Ranged Accuracy +10 (If only that ATT were RATT I'd have sex with the trousers!)
Maybe I'll macro the Dusk in just for my Slug Shots, my normal shooting-for-TP seems mostly fine racc-wise.

Honestly last night, for the first time, I considered selling Dusk Trousers.

I got COR relic pants in Sandoria, and decided to macro them into slugshot (AGI and STR on the pants, so couldn't hurt?). I didn't miss a single slugshot for the rest of the night.

I also was swinging for about 35 damage per joyeuse hit with my haste setup with AND without Dusk Trousers.

I'm going to do some more testing, but seriously. Once I get some Haste pants for Corsair (from Ashu Taliff) There seems to be little use for Dusk Trousers outside of a COR/RNG shoot for TP build?

Also, I was hoping you could give me some pointers on chocobo raising. My last bird was 8/8/0/0 no abilities. Just started this one. I have an alchemy 91 mule so chocolixirs should be no problem. The only thing I'm not sure on is whether I should go 8/8/0/0 THEN focus on Discernment to learn the stories, or go discernment first and then get STR/END as high as I can and cap with chocobucks?

<3 Ashu Taliff stuff! I got my current gloves from there. (LS does so many runs they tend to look for homes for the gloves. Pants are a different story.)

On chocobos, 8/8/0/0 was my last one, too (back before anyone knew what mental stats were for). The plan I recommend to people is: Split up the two attributes into groups. STR + DIS/END + REC (confirm that in the wiki! I don't have my notebook here at work with me, so I'm not sure that's the right pairing). STR lowers DIS when you train it? If so, that's the right pair. One pair you train through overnight care plans, the other you train through training tokens (do those free races for chocobucks, then buy the tokens from the NPC next to the racing one). You'll need a crapton of chocobucks, so expect to put many many many (hundreds) of hours into this and a few million gil.

Grats on Barb. Gloves! I have the HQ Blood Finger Gauntlets and the relic gloves for shooting. But the dat on your gloves look cooler in my opinion.

The COR relic pants still aren't that great.. there's better pieces for every use for them, but from my initial messing around they're more decent than I originally gave them credit for. It's not a HUGE difference to dusk (at least in Dynamis last night) even though the stats on Dusk you'd think otherwise...

Let me know if you do some testing on your own.

*laughs* Yes. I stressed myself to hell and back, burnt out on the game (only the second time ever in 4.5 years!) all for that torque. And now I never use it! Ha ha. I've had it for a long while and have only used it three times total.

God. If anything, it feels like Dusk gave me worse racc. c.c I had a BRD who actually gave me the racc songs (rare!) and still I was missing a lot of Slug Shots (and I have a Coffinmaker so I wait until 150 TP). It's crazy.
