Email subject: 6th Annual Picnic and Cricket Game!

So yes, we don't play softball or baseball or football or basketball, our company's game is cricket. I have no idea how it's played (nor do I really care), but the idea of a sport being named after a noisy little bug is vaguely amusing.

Date: 2003-02-14 03:01 pm (UTC)It is insanely popular all over the world, though, not just in little villages where anything remotely like flat space is pampered all year just so they've got somewhere to play it.
Did I mention that I hate cricket? It's boring, it's stupid, it's an excuse to stand around in the sunshine all afternoon and then have to move very fast and throw the ball a long way every now and again. If you're a guy, that is. Women generally don't play, the wives get to make tea and cucumber sandwiches in the pavilion while the children get bored silly because they can't play on the village green because some bunch of stupid adults wants to stand around in the sun and stupid outfits all afternoon.
Oh, and *don't* get hit by the ball. That hurts. A lot.
