This morning, in New York: Wal-Mart Employee Trampled to Death by Customers .

The person killed was 34 years old. By damned idiot shoppers. At a Walmart. Someone lost their life so that people could get a discount on some material thing that they didn't even need. (No, you do not need a HD TV. You do not need an xbox. There's a difference between wanting and needing.) If you were starving to death and if that store was the only place with food, then maybe I could understand this sort of thing. But otherwise? No. Just no.

I just can't believe people... This makes me sick.

What makes it worse for me? Some of those people had been waiting outside that door for more then eight hours. c.c

Deals on Black Friday aren't even that good most of the time. If you pay attention to the internet, you could get the same or close to it all year round.

I don't care if it was 99% off, I still wouldn't go into a store today.

If you pay attention to the internet, you could get the same or close to it all year round.

If they had half of a brain, they'd realize that...

Oh yeah, something like this happens every year. When my ex and brother used to work at Circuit City they got to see the sort of violence and greed that goes on firtshand. People shoving, punching, all over discounts on electronics.

It's scary to think: if this how people react over this sort of thing, what'll happen in a real emergency?

I'm afraid to even try to picture it. So many people would be killed...

Cripes. Boxing Day is a crazy shopping day here, but my definition of 'crazy' is that it's hot and crowded, you can't leisurely browse over the DVD sales because people are trying to get past, and you have to bring a debit card and try to look pathetic with your little items so that a nice person in the Electronics department will let you sneak out of line to ring up at his register.

The customers tore down the front door? That's scary.

I can think of few things sadder than dying in a Wal-Mart.

Jesus. Y'know, I and a few of my friends (all of us who suffer from a variety of personality disorders and other forms of mild insanity) have near-phobia aversions to WalMart. I can't help but think of every zombie movie in existence. The people who shop in WalMart are functioning at about the same level as zombies. And events like this only reaffirm my view.

Condolences to the guy's family. Trampled by psychotic consumers is not a very dignified way to go.

Apparently an 8 month pregnant shopper got injured and suffered a miscarriage also.

Really? I heard the baby lived. Still, trampling people and shooting each other over /things/ (This is why I do my shopping online! I got video games for about 20 bucks each, handmade soaps and some other goodies without all the fuss) is kind of horrific.

I went to the pet store, and that wasn't packed. Neither was the animal shelter, where I adopted Meeps, my cat. :x
