So the people who got a three-day ban for the duped items are back. With their duped items.

><

As a LS member said: A three day ban in exchange for uber gear? Totally worth it.

Seriously, what the hell. What was the point of all this if everyone gets to keep their duped crap?

They should have perma-banned every single person who used the dupe, then "let them keep it or no?" wouldn't have been an issue.

Grrrr.

I hope they remove the duped gear. I can only assume it was easier to ban people then figure out what all was duped, but if they let them back... maybe they will go through and remove stuff. x.x

Dude if I had of known that I would have totally duped for an Ares body or something and then just played WoW for 3 days and come back to my kickass body piece! I hope they take it away. And, although it would be a lot of work, if someone had pieces of it legitimately (I wouldn't care) but they should just like break the item back down into component parts and destroy the duped pieces.

Yeah. A forced three day break from the game would actually be kind of nice (since I can't seem to do it on my own). And coming back to a really nice piece of armor? Bonus.

I think if any part of it were duped, they should just remove the whole thing. Don't like that? Then they shouldn't have duped to begin with.

Oh I'd totally agree with just completely blowing the items away but they already got "punished" so it would be more "fair" to just destroy the duped parts... I guess.

If it's too hard to figure out, they should just wipe the character's inventory and reset their gil to 0. And the players should consider themselves _lucky_ they got to keep their levels.

I don't understand tolerating cheaters in a game like this.

Ha ha ha, I like that idea! :D

And agreed, I don't understand cheating and I don't understand tolerating cheaters. How can you feel proud of your armor if you didn't earn it?

They cannot remove duped gear as they cannot determine what gear was duped and which was legit.

Even when people got 3x drop, 1 of those was legit.

If they can't, that's lame. Blizzard has no problem with it on WoW.

It might well be lame, yes. Could be that they don't track item acquisition as closely as would be necessary to figure out if someone duped items, or do have the data but don't have the tools to actually track duped items.

I do agree with other comments that a three-day temporary ban seems a bit light, though.

SE has said in the past if you benefit from one person in your group cheating, all people in the group could be punished.

If someone in the group was duping, they should all be removed. Even if one were legit, who is to say which member of the group would have gotten it?

Sleep with dogs, get fleas. If you party with dupers, you should lose the item.

Even if they can't figure out what was a duped item and what wasn't they still should have perm banned the offenders. A three day suspension for dupping is a joke and now that they get to keep their items its a reward.

I agree with this, even though I lost a couple of friends to this ban.

Having been in endgame for over 4 years, and having recieved temporary bans for botting and having used pos hacks and flee hacks I will be one of the first to say that every time you break the ToS you should only do so if you're fully willing to suffer whatever punishment SE deem necessary.

The 3 day is a joke, agreed. I'm just upset because I have friends and LS members who were perma-banned for just going with a group that duped, and they didn't even get armor from those runs. So permanently gone, just because they didn't leave the moment the leader started doing shifty things. And didn't get anything for it even!!

It's very easy to sound so bitter when no one you care about was perma-banned, and your LS members make irresponsible jokes like, "3 day for uber gear? Worth it." But perm banning everyone really isn't the answer. Who's responsible for "who used the dupe"? Just the leader? Every person who didn't warp out then and there? Or just those that got any of the 3 duplicated items?

Rather than banning, I agree to just take the gear away. It's still months of work lost on whomever's part. Who cares if one of those 3 items was legit? As soon as it was multiplied, I think that none of them were really legit. For those that were doing it, it's all their cheating gone and they have to start over again from square 1. For those that just happened to come along, nothing lost nothing gained.

This is the first time I've felt this in the issue, but yes, in this case that's a little rough. However, in the past SE has said that if you're even just in the same linkshell as someone who bots you could get banned as well, so... :/

Also keep in mind they found people who were duping only after going through several months worth of data. I think it's safe to say some of the people who got suspended were probably not people who did it frequently, or often. In which case, perma-banning someone for something they duped six months prior could be considered too little, too late. Looking at it that way, SE now knows who they are, they've had their warnings, and they probably won't get just a temporary suspension if they keep doing it.

I have my fingers crossed for that. If these people break the rules again, hopefully SE will come down on them like a ton of bricks.

well...

Well, another strike and the 3-day ban people are gone. So there's always that.

They could be going around to each person and taking their duped items still though? I haven't checked BG yet today to see what's been happening.

So far there's no word on BG about anyone losing any items. I'm hoping they'll go around and remove them "hand by hand", but... not holding my breath. :/

Ha ha ha. Now there's an idea. Take them away from the cheaters and give them to random non-cheaters!

I wanna GM call and complain that duped items are still in the game world.. I wanna trade a 3 day ban for all my relic ;-;
