From [livejournal.com profile] xvolph's LJ: Pro-life group mad about the use of the word 'choice', angry at Krispy Kreme for producing abortion doughnuts.

I can't make this crap up.

So, not only should we all not have a choice, we should not be permitted to use the word choice.

Choice, choice, choice, choice, choice, choice, choice, choice, choice. So there.

Unrelated: Battlestar Galactica just keeps getting better and better. I'm halfway through the first season. Freakiest ep so far: Starbuck tortures the captured Cylon guy, but in the end has this connection with him and prays for him. Oh my god. So messed up, so good. :D Also, I love that the Cylon ships are alive. That's darned cool.

I'm also wondering where the Cylons' religiousness comes from. I really, really need to download the miniseries this weekend so I can find out what questions we're supposed to not know about vs the ones I'm in the dark on because I didn't watch that. Either way, the fact that they're religious worries me a bit; at what point do they become "people" even if they're machines?

If I were to make a joke in poor taste (ha ha), I'd have to ask if an abortion donut would be jelly filled. Mmm, strawberry jelly.

We'd be sooo much better without them. :/

Reasoning and free will defines people, therefore the Cylons are people.

So were the Nazis, though. The Cylons tried to wipe out all human life in the universe, so the Galactica crew are perfectly justified in operations like the Ressurection Ship. What happened on New Caprica (Trying to avoid spoilers here, because I'm pretty sure you haven't seen either of those arcs) also proves that the Cylons haven't changed.

I'm pretty sure that if the story ever gets finished, they'll wind up destroying a lot of "good guy" Cylons like Sharon, but it was necessary to kill a lot of ordinary Germans in order to end the Nazi regime, too. The world is a bad place with bad people in it, and unfortunately it's not just the villains who suffer for it, even in cases of victory.

Scifi channel was billing this week's ep as the last ep ever. It didn't end the story? :/

And we'll have to talk more once I'm caught up!

Nono, this week was the first episode of the last half of the final season. There's nine episodes to go now. And they are not being skimpy on the revelations, which is nice because it means there's time to deal with them rather than having all this stuff dumped on us in the final episode.

Wow. Here's hoping the anti-abortionists don't remember that there's a cut of meat called USDA choice. OMG ABORTION BEEF!!!

Don't be fooled! This is clearly a ruse, a ploy by Krispy Kreme to capitalize on public sentiment. Now they'll introduce free "abortion donuts" (all liberally laced with cocaine, so you can't have just one) to the public. And it's working! I'm not even hungry and I want a Krispy Kreme donut!

On a serious note, I have half a mind to remind everyone I know that you can get a free donut from Krispy Kreme next Tuesday...

Man, I'd kill for a donut now, too.

And see, you and I make sense! We both spell it 'donut'. What's this 'doughnut' stuff?

I stopped thinking of the Cylons as machines a long, long time ago. Around the end of season 1/beginning of season 2, you'll see what I mean. ^_~

And yes, some of them are very religious. It's very interesting to see their monotheism versus the Colonials' polytheism. You'll just have to deal with it. ;p

Oh, I'm totally loving the religious aspect of this! Especially the polytheism -- that's so cool!

Ah, okay; I was misinterpreting your worry about the Cylons' religiousness. It really does vary among them (mostly along model lines). Leoben, the one in the episode you just watched, is quite possibly the most fanatical of them all. Six is interesting, too. I can't quite tell you about the less religious ones yet because it would be a spoiler, but there is something amusingly ironic about one of them.

Mwa ha ha. Just wait until you get to *spoiler*. And *spoiler*. And *spoiler* with *spoiler.*

...okay, now I know how all my friends were feeling when they were all "hurry up and catch up" while I was still behind. ;p

*laughs* And yay! I'm watching the miniseries so I finally know who Six is!

And I meant to say in my last comment, but I was in a rush when I posted: On the ep where Starbuck tortures the captured Cylon guy... a number of times people in the ep said that that Cylon would sometimes tell the truth, but that it was always mixed in with lies. The Cylon claimed there was a nuke on board, and that turned out to be a lie. The only other thing he said was that Commander Adama was a Cylon... So if he says lies and truths, and we know he said a lie, that leaves that as the truth... (Or maybe that's a known fact already!) All this hype on the SciFi channel promos about "the final Cylon" makes me wonder if it's Adama...

I need to finish the miniseries so I can continue on with the eps! :D I didn't think it was possible, but I love the miniseries even more than the eps I've seen. It's so dark! So hopeless! So very satisfying.

Edit: *sniffles* And of course when I go back to the miniseries everyone's hugging and loving and happy for the moment. The dark parts make the light parts all the brighter! <3

I'm suddenly in the mood to listen to songs about being paranoid for some reason. While eating my abortion doughnut, of course, because only whores would call them anything other than that. [/sarcasm]
