It is shocking how little people know about basic physics, history, math, geography...
Not only do people not value education, they think [insert whatever religion they believe] is just as valid as real, scientific education. It's both sad and worrying!
It goes beyond that. Religious fanaticism has set scientific progress back hundreds of years already. Imagine if Alan Turing hadn't been convicted of the "crime" of homosexuality, causing him to take his own life. This is the father of modern computers we're talking about. Imagine if people hadn't been burned as "heretics" for suggesting that the Earth isn't flat. And that's just the theoretical sciences. Think of the hundred plus years that doctors weren't allowed to study human cadavers because of religious objections. Think of all of the lives that could have been saved if medical science had had access to that kind of study material a hundred years earlier. I won't even comment on stem cell research, I'll just get myself in trouble. Plus I'll start to sound like I'm sucking Richard Dawkins' cock even though I don't have a problem with people being religious when they're not stupid or fanatical about it.
And to reply to the video...I clearly remember seeing rainbows in sprinklers 25 years ago, and that's about as far back as I'm even capable of remembering.
