Yeah, the female thing bothers me as well, including that they're called "the females" and such. Men get called "the males" as well, which I don't like much either, but "the females" bugs me more.
There are so many things I don't like about this book, I don't understand how I'm enjoying it so much -- I was grinning while reading this morning!
