Hey, it's a slow Thursday, let's go to the hospital!

Remember yesterday I saw the podiatrist and she put me on an antibiotic that we thought I wasn't allergic to? Turns out we were wrong.

I turned bright red from scalp to ankles, and itchy has hell, then I started fainting. Nothing like the surprise of suddenly finding yourself on the floor with no idea how you got there...

Turns out when you're bright red for too long, too much of your blood is on the surface of your body and so you get low blood pressure. Too low blood pressure = fainting.

Luckily I was only in the hospital a half-day, but I get so skittish about going that I packed a ton of stuff. Better safe than sorry!

Eeek... Red man syndrome. Serious stuff. I'm thankful I've no med allergies. We see this rxn with vancomycin, but slowing the rate of the infusion usually resolves it. Feel better!

The ER doctor disagrees with the podiatrist and thinks it's not still infected, so I guess we'll see which is right...

Yeah, she thinks I don't really have an infection in my toe, so we're doing nothing for now. Fingers crossed she's right!
