Hm! That's an interesting comparison, I hadn't thought of that. I can see the similarities (Clan vs advanced humans / Un-Named vs Named), and both have a young female protagonist, both are set in the distant past). The biggest difference is that Alya was so perfect at everything, while Ratha was just the opposite. (Hey, and didn't Alya invent some kind of fire making thing too? Ha, another similarity!)
While I did like Clan of the Cave Bear (even though the rest of the series went downhill fast), the two books don't have the same "feel" though.
