Yayyyy, I am so glad you enjoyed it. I know you were really wanting to know a lot of the answers, and by the end, a lot of them end up being "the island is magic, magic shit happens there". But there is so much emphasis on story and characters and like you said, love, that it is a full show, not a Q&A listicle.
They were not all dead...initially. Lots of them died throughout the show, then in the end, we all die, and we all get to meet up with our friends and loved ones.
But like, Jack is alive the whole time, until he dies in the finale. Most people are alive while on the island, until you see them die.
