thistlechaser: (Cat in noodles)
Ha ha, I may be on vacation, but that doesn't mean I can't do the meme everyone else is doing!

Instructions: Go to Wikipedia and look up your birth day (excluding the year). List three neat facts, two births and one death in your journal, including the year.

December 8 had both good and bad things happening on it:

Events:

1941 - World War II: Pacific War - After the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbour the U.S. Congress passes a declaration of war against Japan.
1968 - NLS (a system for which hypertext and the computer mouse were developed) is publicly demonstrated for the first time in San Francisco.
1991 - The leaders of Russia, Belarus and Ukraine sign an agreement dissolving the Soviet Union and establishing the Commonwealth of Independent States.

Births:

1943 - Jim Morrison, American singer (The Doors) (d. 1971)
1976 - Dominic Monaghan, German-born British actor [How the heck is he so young?]

Death:

1980 - John Lennon, British musician, singer, and songwriter (b. 1940)

(Grabbing a little net time while guests are in the shower: priceless.)

Some screenshots from my last day before vacation, and some FF12 scans from a Japanese magazine.

I was bored and killing time, so I popped Mycophile. He was easy to kill, but didn't drop anything. Stupid mushroom.

My beloved Woman ([livejournal.com profile] whomeh) needed some help killing orcs, so Des and I went out. We ran into and killed the Orcish Warlord. Wheee! Yay NMs! Unfortunately he didn't drop much of anything:

We found a coffer key on some orc, so Des popped a coffer and got something really nice (I think). I had to log off soon after that, so I'm not sure if it was worth as much as we had thought it was.

FF12 foo cross-posted from my post on FI:

(Edit: Man, tis magazine has pages and pages of info on the upcoming expansion pack. Tons of info, and I can read so little. Charts of NPCs, areas, prices (of something, I don't know what), new items, pos's in zones, etc.

Looks like something will cost a million gil, it looks like someone pays that much to the NPC Sagheera.)

I bought a JP magazine called PlayStation because it had ff12 on the cover. It had 30 or 40 pages of info on it, but unfortunately all in Japanese. Here are some scans of the more interesting pictures:

The races you can play, I assume. None of them really capture my interest.

Three of the little... rabbit? moogle? things.

Airships? Some kind of flying ship things.

A full page scan showing battles, mobs, and other stuff. The thing that looks like a chess or checker board has about 10 pages dedicated to it, so I assume it's something important.

Some characters, including another shot of the bunny girls. I didn't find one single picture of them sexy in the least little bit. They look more like freaks than anything else to me.

This looked pretty cool. Realistic dinosaurs in the game? Maybe fighting on chocobo-back?

I have no clue who these two are, but they scared me. A lot.

Another whole-page scan showing assorted stuff.
