Movie of the week: Iron Man 2 + cooking
May. 21st, 2011 02:04 pmAfter I disliked Iron Man so much last week, it might be surprising that I got the second one for this week. I really liked Robert Downy Jr/the Stark character though, as well as the tech/tech effects. And as low as my expectations were now set, I figured I might enjoy this one more.
I was right. I don't love it, I don't even much like it, but it's better than the first one. I've pinpointed part of what bugs me so much about it: The characters, especially the bad guys, are all 'black'. Black/white, the characters are never gray. Add that to an amazingly predictable storyline and... zzzzzz.
I'd watch a third movie if it were just Stark doing tech, playing with the cool midair screens and such.
On cooking, it's darned rare that I cook something edible, let alone delicious. Today was one of those days. I used this recipe, adapted by the first comment. Pork chop in zip lock bag, a little less than a quarter cup of both soy sauce and worcesterchire, two heaping teaspoons of minced garlic, and a few shakes of black pepper. Leave in fridge for 24 hours. Take out 30 minutes ahead of time, broil 5 minutes per side, rest 10 minutes, gobble down. Mmmm.
And zzz, this movie is never going to end. Seriously, give me 30 minutes of him doing tech instead of it padded out to two hours and change of women in tight black suits kicking bad guy butt. zzz 15 more minutes to go.
