I'm quite proud of my mother. I got her a computer a while back, and she's been getting better at online stuff. She lives alone, and this is her first time even *touching* a computer, so this is quite an impressive thing.

I'm worried she's getting too good.

She learned how to IM, so I installed that AIM thing so we could talk on it. She finally figured out how to send links across it.

Tonight she sent me a link to The Thong Song. Unfortunately, this isn't the only or the most disturbing thing she's ever sent me. She's not a far step from sending me links to ... "adult" things. While I'll all for porn in general, I do not not not not not want to get it from my mother. Gah. (I sort of think she's sharing it with me so that I'll be impressed that she can find this or that... But, you know... Gah.)

On (thankfully) other topics, I've had a paid LJ for almost a year now, and I've never made a poll, so it's about time I do!

You know what I just realized? You're a girl. I didn't know that. Please don't be offended, but the 'send your daughter porn' comment is the first gender reference I remember seeing in your journal, and for some reason I just assumed you were a guy. You know how you just get little assumptions in your head for no reason?

No offense taken! Most people online think/assume I'm a guy. It sort of goes in a pattern:

They start out thinking I'm a guy, then they get the feeling I might be a gay guy (because I talk about some cute guy or something), then a long time down the road they find out I'm really a girl.

Not to just, you know, share porn with them. If it was to shock them or to send them some message ("Mom, this is a hint that I like having sex with office furniture.") then I'm okay with it.

Wow, I feel sort of up-tight all of a sudden. I always considered myself pretty open about sex, but this just makes me twitch.

I once found a porno tape in my mom's dresser... as well as one of my Anais Nin books that I'd been missing for weeks.

She's a pervert, but as long as she keeps it to herself, that's okay with me. Can't blame her when I've been snooping.
