At first I was sad about people (again) jumping ship from LJ, but now I'm more annoyed by the situation than anything else. I've put way too much time and effort trying to figure out how to keep reading journals and not losing contact with people, but came up with no good solution.

There's no way to not lose quality in my posts. If I post on DW and let it crosspost to LJ, I lose icon selection, plus there's the whole locking issue. (Not that I often lock posts, but I darned well should be able to if I want.)

If I read my friends list on DW (using a RSS feed to bring the posts from LJ to DW), again I lose icons, but also formatting and other things. Plus I wouldn't see others' locked posts.

So sorry people who are leaving LJ. I like you all, but the best I can do is try to read my DW circle (or whatever the hell term they use). I can't promise I'll remember to on a regular basis, but that's the best I can do. ...Not that you'll probably see this post, so I guess this paragraph is kind of moot.

Locking should carry over correctly on cross-post (I think? it's been a while since I've tried) but icon selection, and the cross-posted userheads being the wrong color was what stopped me cross-posting from DW... though at this point I might give it another try, as a lot more of my flist is primarily on DW now than in those days...

I'm guessing more than half of my friends list is on DW too at this point. It's just frustrating, I feel like I have to pick between the site I would rather be on, or following the crowd.

I feel like there's some easier way I'm missing, but I can't put my finger on what.

Maybe reading two different friendslist pages won't be so bad, but that leaves the posting issue...

Yep, locking behavior carries over on cross-post.

I figure just having a DW journal and reading its flist (reading circle, whatever, I still haven't adopted DW jargon) after your LJ flist is perfectly reasonable.

Yeah, that's what I'm going to do, just have to figure out what, if anything, to do about posting. Maybe that RSS feed will be good enough for DW people.

FWIW, I'm "hazlogs" there (http://hazlogs.dreamwidth.org/), though it's not a journal (I haven't properly journaled, even here, in ages) but a GarouMUSH logsite. (I'm working my way through past logs and occasionally uploading current logs as they come.) But I do follow/read people's DW journals from that account, too.

Thanks, added you! Will be fun having a look at GarouMUSH stuff again.
