I think most people didn't like it as much as I did, so your feeling on it make sense.
I stopped listening to that Animorphology podcast, by the way. It got too SJWish for me. They really came down hard on Marco, a young boy from decades ago, not being more sensitive about girls, for example. They seemed to forget that the book was written 20 years ago and they were expecting today's norms and opinions in it. Not to mention, he was a young teenage boy...
