Wow. *impressed*
Sep. 15th, 2004 10:48 amFor all people joke about her, Martha Stewart seems to be a strong, honorable woman. I admire her and I hope that if I were ever in a similar situation, I would act the same way. I hope she's able to plant her garden, and I hope her situation in prison isn't too bad.

Date: 2004-09-15 12:18 pm (UTC)It's not against the law to be an asshole. And if I had the chance, I'd indulge in insider trading...I'd be stupid not to, really.

Date: 2004-09-15 01:12 pm (UTC)Insider trading represents one of the worst crimes contemporary times has seen. It is corruption at its worst, and often connected to bad politics, too. I really do think that Stewart receives every bit of villification that she's received thus far.

Date: 2004-09-15 06:12 pm (UTC)Screwed up as life under our corporate masters is, it seems silly to take offense at someone using the tools available to get ahead, particularly when Conglomco just put 50,000 people out of work to raise the stocks of their BoD a tenth of a point.

Date: 2004-09-15 03:10 pm (UTC)But when it comes to the whole insider-trading, since I ignore her on the principle of 'out of sight, out of mind', I don't care about her either way. I'm glad she has the fortitude to admit she did something considered illegal, but I really don't care if she *is* a criminal or not.
Good grief, I hope my ambivalence made *some* sense at least.
