What finally stopped the "I have to be on every minute possible cause otherwise I'm missing something in FFXI! omgguildpoints!chocobos!nidhoggmightpop!mustdoquestnow!" feeling for me was just being away from the game for a while. When you're logging on every day, you always feel like you HAVE to be on every second -- even if you don't want to be.
My advice, and I don't mean to be patronizing so apologies in advance if I come off as such: Take at least a few days away from it. It shouldn't be that hard now, you have FFXII, which is the same but better! (I suppose if you MUST, log on for BRD static, but that's it -- no muling or anything otherwise!) After a couple days away from FFXI-mindset you'll realize that hey -- the world does go on when you didn't get max guild points that day, or dig up your 100 items, or tend to your chocobo, and it's really not a big deal that you didn't. And trust me, going to bed the INSTANT you feel like it, with no pixelated obligations, is totally awesome.
