How do they do this? (TV, Dexter)
May. 12th, 2008 08:12 amThanks to a link to a site that helps you locate TV shows online from
elo_sf, I found a link to the first two seasons of Dexter online! It looks like they're all full eps!
How in the world are they getting away with that? Well, watch them fast before the site is shut down!
And OMG, the opening to the second ep of the first season? The filmmakers of that series are amazing, masters. How in the world did they make cooking breakfast look so stomach-turning disgusting? I kept thinking "Why are they showing clips of cutting dead bodies mixed in with making break-- no, wait, that's just ham..." and things like that.
Eee! :D

Date: 2008-05-12 06:48 pm (UTC)From the FAQ: SideReel indexes links to video. We do not host the actual videos. Videos are hosted by different sites, which SideReel does not control. If you are within the U.S., you should be able to watch videos from sites like ABC, NBC, CBS, Hulu and others.
It seems as if they're using the same reasoning as torrent sites and figure that since they're not hosting it, they can't be nailed for copyright infringement. Eh, I guess whatever works for them.

Date: 2008-05-13 12:15 am (UTC)Showtime knows that they have a winner. They made their first bundle of money off of advertising when the eps were first released, now the only money they'll be making off of the first two seasons come from DVD sales. Online here-today-gone-tomorrow sites like that are nothing more than free advertising from Showtime's perspective. They won't spend money to go after someone who is in effect providing them with a service.
*I pay a monthly fee for TMN, but TMN has lots of content. I can't see Showtime's cut of that being more than a few cents.
