My new cookbooks... aren't ||| And WoW

For some reason, America's Test Kitchen has been emailing me stuff. As I like the show quite a lot, I haven't minded. (If you've not seen it, it's like Good Eats, just on PBS. Lots of science, recipes, and toss in reviews of foods and cooking-related stuff.) One of the emails offered me a special on "cookbooks" (or so I must have misread...) All of the recipes and stuff from 2009, and as a bonus you'd get all the ones from 2008 for free. Never giving up hope that I might one day successfully cook something, I ordered it.

Finally, after six weeks (five weeks alone just for shipping them to me!) they arrived. They're not cookbooks... It's the Cook's Illustrated magazines, a year's worth (six issues), bound in a hard cover. On one hand, this isn't a terrible thing. The magazines are packed with info. On the other, it's not a cookbook, and the cover is fugly as hell (looks like it was supposed to have a slip cover maybe).

I'm not going to return them, there's so much information in them! And there are a good number of recipes, it's just not at all what I was expecting.

In WoW news, I finally finished up Netherwing rep. It was the first rep I ever did, so I had horrible memories of it (plus I hadn't known about collecting eggs until I was nearly done, and I was low level enough to get XP the whole time). It was better than I remembered, but not in any way, shape, or form fun. Mostly it was an issue of time -- I tried to get it all done on my lunch break, so I could do relaxing/enjoyable things after work. This meant no lunch, plus no doing other things I often do on my lunch break (like grocery shop).

Keen is at 88/100 mounts. He needs to finish CE rep (89), get the one from the angry blue ladies (90, just started that daily again), and the one from the egg (91, 0/400-ish!). That'd leave 3-4 jousting ones he still needs (UGH), and H-CoS drake (95 or 96), then the rest would have to come in Cata. I really, really, really, really don't want to do jousting dailies again though, so that might be the deal breaker.

Yep! Sooner or later I'll bank 50K honor for the goblin one, but no rush there.

There has to be more mounts you can get than having to wait for Cataclysm. I mean, I have very few of the ones that you said you needed (I have the polar bear, the green proto-drake, and I don't have all of the Argent Tournament mounts.). Granted I also had the Zhevra and the Great Brewfest Ram.

And at least the H-CoS drake is 100% drop, assuming you beat the timer. I don't know the last time I didn't beat the timer. =x

Did you ever get to look into the Wowhead addon that collects data about your char? It'll provide a list on their website for you when you let it do a scan. That's how I made my list.

The biggest problem is, Keen doesn't do instances. I don't think he's ever done a single one. That knocks a lot of mounts out. He has no event ones either (try as I might! He lost the roll for that darned Valentine's Day rocket by one point!), and no RAF ones either.

Did you ever get to look into the Wowhead addon that collects data about your char? It'll provide a list on their website for you when you let it do a scan. That's how I made my list.

Oh, that's easier than what I did. I found some site (WoWmounts? WarcraftMounts? something like that) and it let you check them off. Lots of going back and forth between windows to make sure you did it without error...

I'll look into Wowhead's tonight! Maybe the Mounts site was out of date and there are some others I can get.

Sounds like they sent you what a lot of libraries get for storing archived periodicals. The covers are ugly, but it basically takes up less space than having a stack of magazines, and it's a lot more durable. So congratulations; you're a library now. ;)

Yeah, that's just what it looks like. I'm willing to put up with the ugliness since the hard covers will protect the insides better! Especially if I take them into the kitchen while I cook.

Get rep with the Kurenai -- there's 6 mounts there, Talbuks.
Level engineering and tailoring -- Engineering has 2 roflcopters and tailoring has several flying carpets. I am unsure if they let you keep using them if you drop the profs though. I know that if you do enchanting and enchant your rings they stay active even if you drop it, but not sure about the mounts.

Argent tourney has five or six mounts that are 5 seals and 400G each, you can get those easy peasy.

Kurenai is the Alliance Faction, Mag'Har is the Horde one. And they have /8/ talbuk mounts you can get.

Also -- useless but count:
AQ20 mounts. :)

Get a raid group, go to An'Quiraj in Silithus, slaughter trash for AQ specific mounts there's 4-6 of them and they drop off the trash. :)

Edit: Or not. Says the AQ mobs are soloable by a tank job. This is on my rogue. :/ Might have to make a trip with a group sometime!

So...they can get mount drops too. You need two people to form a raid group anyway. :) Two birds with one stone. :)

You'll be at it a while, and I forget how many there are but I think there's 4-6 Quiraji Battle Tanks (bug mounts)...like...Red, Blue, Yellow, Black...probably a Green too. Not sure, but they can only be used in AQ.

I wish they could be used elsewhere, they're actually creepy-cool.

I think it's 4 (there's a 5th, but only one per server). Just in AQ, yeah. Red is a 1% drop, and is a feat of strength. I've been reading! :D

Yeah, I've just done the dailies there so long on so many alts... Ugh.
