I don't follow WoW news as closely as I might, so if this is old news, I apologize.

I thought they were dropping the guild stuff? Guild achievements, guild XP, guild leveling, all that stuff. I'm really sorry to see that, with all my alts in my own personal guild, I'm going to be missing out on a heck of a lot of stuff. Not only that, anyone in a small guild will be missing out. It's going to boil down to: the bigger the guild you're in, the better stuff you'll get.

Dark Phoenix Hatchling? Raise 55 reputations to Exalted. Good luck doing that solo!

Armadillo Pup pet? Kill 50,000 critters.

New guild bank tabs -- guild-based achievements. Mounts, recipes, so much new stuff... all based on your guild.

What the heck happened to WoW being a solo-friendly game? No, you don't NEED a pet or a recipe or whatever, but it should be accessible to us less-social folks, too.

I wonder if guilds will start to sell the pets? Let you join up long enough for them to be mailed to you... Or if it'll even work that way. If it's only mailed to people who are a member at the time the 50,000th critter is killed, wouldn't that stop people from joining that guild in the future?

(One day I shall stop talking about FFXI. I feel like one of those people who got out of a bad relationship and now Cannot Stop Talking About That Person. And no worries, this doesn't apply to anyone who reads my LJ!

...today seems to be my day for LJ disclaimers.)

Edit: How sad is this! There's talk about the next pre-Cata event (it's on the PTR now), I'm sitting here all worried WHAT IF IT HAPPENS DURING MY WEEK'S VACATION?! ARG! *snickers* I'm so silly.

Nope, the guild stuff stayed, though they altered it a bit. :)

The stuff they outright dropped was related to The Path of Titans -- which tied to Archaeology.

And seriously, personal guild banks were not intended. Most people that play are in guilds, like the overwhelming majority, making guilds more worthwhile is just good customer service. And as you pointed out I'm sure there's people that will let you join the guild short term for gold or something.

I think saying WoW is becoming FFXI is not even remotely the case. :) If it was I'd be canceling my subscription! I don't agree with all the changes coming down the pike, but for the most part I think they're positive, unfortunately with 11.5 million subscribers, most of whom are morons and douchebags, there's no way to make everyone happy. :)

Ya, it's more the other way around.

So I've heard! Good for them! I just hope they can stick with the changes!

Oh, I know that was just a tad exaggerated. Just a tad! :P

Agreed! I just don't like the feeling I'm being forced into doing something I don't want to do to get something I want. Which is highly ironic as mini-Keen is currently level 58 and I hate XPing and I have ZERO reason to level him since ICly he's level 1 BUT I JUST CAN'T STOP.

A smidge exaggerated, yes. :) But that's okay, we still love you! :)

A good guild is the only thing that keeps me going some days, Thistle. Good friends, even if I don't speak to them all the time, having people I CAN speak to, or ask for help, or offer TO help makes a big difference for me. :)

Hell, the driving motive behind my need to get all the JC recipes isn't primarily for me to make money, or to have them all, nope, it is in case a guildie or other friend needs a cut. Sure, JC is a good money maker too, but that's only a part of why I level it and do the daily every day and so on.

As to leveling -- I am there with you, probably my least favorite thing in the game. Hopefully the new revamping of the old piece of shit fucking annoying shit-tacular world will make the leveling thing more fun. :) At least they let us get BoA items to make it less annoying! From what little I saw in the beta they really streamlined a lot of the crap that annoyed me, I think that leveling might actually be fun again.

Oh, for sure! I get the same thing through a channel. A bunch of us have our own guilds (for the banks) and one person raids, so a channel has the same function. We do everything together!

I'm really so excited about so much in Cata! More BoAs! Gotten through archaeology! Eeeeee!

Then maybe you should all consolidate and form a guild. :) *runs*

Guilds also get more XP booster Heirlooms - a helm and a cloak I do believe, and guilds also get an XP boost for members that isn't item dependent.

Archaeology looks to be a dismal process with awesome rewards. :) I mean there's pets and mounts you can get! That's enough right there to ensure I'll do it.

Did you see that mount that they believe to be for alchemists? Sands of something or other? Turns you into a drake that an ally can mount up! You morph into a ridable dragon! How cool is that?

Whine! Want!

Other than being annoyed that mages will have it easier than everyone else (portals!), I think I'll like the process. But then, I liked chocobo digging and hot&cold in FFXI, so that fits!

!!! I heard about that mount, but had no idea how to get it! I have two alchemists! EEE!

Strange, leveling is one of my favourite parts. I guess that's why I have two servers of alts. :)

About the only "end-game" activities that really appeal to me is heroics (only since the advent of the Dungeon Finder) and storyline questing and the occasional achievement (old Onyxia with two people :)

Yeah, I'm not big on end game either. If not for RP, I would have long since quit WoW, since, well, there's not much I do like in it. (Which sounds silly, since I can get RP elsewhere, but...)
