  • I really, really liked this video. I'd suggest you watch it at the highest resolution for most spiffiness.

I can sort of handle the slow moving zombies, but the faster ones? Eeek, no.

And speaking of zombies, I still haven't watched the first ep of this season's The Walking Dead yet. D: I think tomorrow will be Homeland's new ep, then tomorrow Walking Dead.
  • I haven't been backing up my IC writings to LJ lately, mostly because I haven't really been writing much. (And now, with all the new IC posts on
my friends list I'm all EEEK because it's all so good.) But anyway, I
wanted to save a copy of this one.

For those who don't know,
Dandelion is a worgen (werewolf), but he's special Special-special. He's one part Down syndrome kid (so he loves everyone, loves giving hugs), one part puppy (friendly, happy, outgoing) and one part 60s hippie (dreamy, "stoned out of his mind" 24/7). The reasons for that aren't important to this writing.

[info]wheatonwra* started a thread on our Alliance guild board: Character Prompt: Your Death ("How is your character going to die (or how would you like for it to happen)?")

Ball ball ball.

The best thing about the ball was that it was never still. Always ahead of him, moving this way or that, sometimes running fast, sometimes bouncing slowly around.

Chasing it downhill was best, Dandelion had found. It ran so fast! He could barely keep up with it.

Over a branch it went, faster and faster as it neared the bottom of the hill. All of his focus on it, the bushes and grasses around him a blur.

Almost! Almost got it!

He never saw the truck coming.

Speaking
of Dande, I've used the same icon for him on the guild board for nearly
a year now, but it still amuses me every time I see it:

Hm, it's under 100x100, I really could save it as a LJ icon, too.
  • I have no idea how the formatting of this post is going to look. I switched to Rich Text for ease of making bullet point list (I thought maybe that would make my hodgepodge of subject matters in one post easier to follow), but it makes my post look very odd. WYSIWYG editing = NO THANKS. Next time I'll just look up the code for a bullet list and do it myself. Grr, I know this is going to look odd. My line lengths look all wrong on the above point.  Mumble mutter.
  • Doctor appointment was today, and it was almost all good news. She said I've made the more progress this time than any other time I saw her (many years). I lost... not as much weight as I'd like to, but an amount that probably counts as reasonable/rational. My blood sugar is in control. My other numbers are either better in line now or are headed that way.  Which, on one hand, is great news. On the other, it means that exercising seven days a week and eating boneless skinless chicken breasts for dinner all the time is working and I'll have to stick to that. :P
  • I'm starting to think that atheists need to become a protected group. Oh what the hell, how in the world do you make links with text in fricking rich text format. My kingdom for HTML use!  (When I switch back to HTML, the post becomes an unfixable mess.) Well, google or copy and paste or something. http://www.examiner.com/humanist-in-national/american-cancer-society-refuses-500-000-from-atheists American Cancer Society refuses to let atheists work to donate money.  Repeated cries that "only Christians should hold public office". And of course the whole "you can't be a moral person if you're not religious!" thing.
Usually I wait until the end of the night to post, so I can add things as needed, but I'm going to send this through now so I can be less grumpy about it. Hopefully it'll come out looking right!

Edit: I see an error in my schedule on watching things (two 'tomorrow's), but rich text doesn't permit me to edit that, the video is in the way. Mumble. And line break issues. D: MY POST SUCKS AND I CAN'T FIX IT.

The most disturbing part about the zombie video was the end credits, with him interacting with that little girl. I spent the entire movie sort of snickering at the absurdity of a zombie in a penguin suit, but the end... the end sort of unnerved me. Seeing zombies as mindless, shambling undead is one thing. Even the idea of, "Oh, Bob worked in that office building over there." isn't so bad. But humanizing them, and worst of all making them seem like a really nice person who got turned into a zombie like that... gah. Gah gah gah.

The crucified zombies were pretty epic too. Alex and I considered it for a moment and decided that those were either some extremely ballsy people to do that to zombies, or more likely they crucified infected people and then they became full-fledged zombies later. It's a nifty concept, one I haven't seen done before.

Overall, that was a super neat video. And I'll stop carrying on now, I'd meant to just make a quick comment before bed. Whoops.

Wasn't that the best/worst! I rarely sit through credits, but I did this time.

The crucified zombies were pretty epic too.

And that, too. Gah. And the hunter shooting them!

I was really impressed by the whole thing. It boggles me that people do these things for free!

Sleep well! <3

I think the most interesting part was the end (before the credits parts) when he's shuffling along and the people are just like "Hey look, a zombie." guy says to his wife "Fine I'll get the gun this time..." just so nonchalant about the whole thing.

Also...

  • but

  • lists are easy...

Took me a second to remember what WYSIWYG was as well, been awhile since I've seen that one.

Showoff. :D I haven't had to make a list in a while, so I forgot!

Yeah, I'm not sure if WYSIWYG is around anymore, but LJ's Rich Text reminded me exactly of that.

And agreed! I loved that part. I wish the whole thing had been longer, I want to know more more more!

If you ever forget any of the HTML, you should definitely remember W3Schools (http://www.w3schools.com/). Amazing reference source for HTML and other markups covered by the W3C.

Have you read Feed by Mira Grant? It's an excellent novel, the sequel Deadline is out (there's a third in the works to finish up the trilogy), and if you like well-thought-out zombie stuff I think you'd enjoy it. :)

I think I have a copy of it in my kindle app! So many books to read, so little time. x.x

Discriminating on the basis of what one believes (or doesn't believe) is just stupid. Every time I see one of those polls about who people would refuse to vote for because of what the person believes, I'm horrified. What the hell does it matter if someone is an atheist or gay or muslim or (the big one right now) mormon? What matters is if /they can do the job/. In the case of what you linked, who cares where the money comes from since we're not talking about blood money from the mafia? It's money! Just take it and use it for cancer research, you dumbasses!

Totally agreed. If they can do the job, who cares if they're purple and like to take tables out on dates!

Totally agreed on the donation thing, too. I was thinking about it more yesterday. Even if the money came from some neonazi (or other hate group) group, so long as it had been gotten in legal ways, I'd want them to take it. Money's money, and money donated to them could do good. Just because you take money, doesn't mean you agree with someone.

Even better! Who cares if they're purple, like to take tables out on dates, and worship the FSM? The ability to do the job is what matters (which covers the whole money thing too). I can see issues with, say, someone who thinks the moon landing was fake being unable to effectively run NASA, but there are relatively few things like that when you consider the gamut of both jobs and beliefs.
