This Scroll of Resurrection thing made me blink. The person using it (returning to get game) gets:
A single character boosted all the way to level 80.
A free upgrade to Cataclysm, regardless of the expansions you already own.
An optional free character move/faction change.
7 free days of game time.
The person sending the Scroll gets one of the new mounts for free (the star pony reskinning of the basic faction flying mount).
Looks like a pretty good deal on either side. See more details on the offer and picture of the mounts here.
If this is enough to make one of you want to come back, I'd love toget the spiffy mount send you one of the scrolls. :D

Date: 2012-03-07 01:33 pm (UTC)How about a loyalty reward. "You've paid for your WoW account for five years without interruption- here's a free mount!" I mean seriously! At this rate you get more benefit for being a serial game-dropper than you do for actually sticking it out! What kind of customer program is that?
And that stupid year-lockin thing doesn't count either because that's like a contract signing up for -future- game play. I mean like in the past. How about some veteran bonuses! There are people who have been playing this game since back when it was really hard (I'm not one of them but still!) Can't Blizz throw some shiny pixels their way?
Not like it costs them anything... Plus if you get something new and shiny every year of uninterrupted account play, it may encourage people to stay around more. If you're 4 months short of getting some awesome 5 year bonus thing, you may think twice before canceling your account until MoP drops, eh?
tl;dr: I WANT STUFF TOO, YOU ASSES!

Date: 2012-03-07 02:22 pm (UTC)It wouldn't help me at all -- I'm cheap and often broke, so I only buy a month at a time with virtual game cards at the Blizzstore, but the folks who /have/ been paying steadily month to month /should/ get something. IMO.

Date: 2012-03-07 03:24 pm (UTC)I agree, though, it'd be great to see people who've been subscribed for so-and-so many months getting something good-- which is what CoH does. something for 12 months, 18 months, 24 months, etc. Instead of only rewarding someone who left.
I don't know that I agree with it being dependent on being constantly subscribed (uninterrupted time) because that kinda punishes loyal players who get hit with the 2x4 of real life sometimes and have to cancel for a month; that'd really suck if someone was subscribed for the other 11 months of that year, and missed out on something cool for circumstances beyond their control!
However, having a certain number of months of paid game time under your belt ala CoH? That'd be pretty good to reward.

Seems like it really has some potential. And while the suggestion forum may be a tough crowd, I don't expect much argument against a free thing to reward just being around.
