Unfortunately I doubt this will be the last we see of him. Like Sarah Palin, he'll probably lurk around for years, spreading his own special brand of crazy.

Every time a political election comes around I always end up typing in all caps a lot HELLO COUNTRY, I PROMISE THERE ARE PLENTY OF PEOPLE WHO LIKE TO MIND THEIR OWN BUSINESS AND DON'T ACT CRAZY IN THE SOUTH.

UNFORTUNATELY THE ONLY PRESIDENTS EVER ELECTED FROM THE SOUTH WERE BALLS OUT CRAZY BEGINNING WITH ANDREW JACKSON (seriously, you have seen his hair on the twenties, SO CRAZY) AND SO NOW WE THINK THAT'S HOW WE ARE SUPPOSED TO ROLL.

*laughs* :D I do try to remember that! I know there are safe, sane folks who live in the south (there are a number of them on my friends list!). Maybe it's going into politics that drives them all batty... or the batty ones are drawn to public office.

Also, the best/worst comment I've heard on Santorum retiring from the race is "He should be forced to carry his dead campaign to full term." At first I thought that was harsh, then I thought about the kind of shit he would've advocated to women and LBGTs, and I feel it was fair.

Even though I join the ranks of YAY HE'S OUT (srsly, when you're too far right for ME, that's saying something), do keep in mind that at least a part of the reason was his daughter's illness and recent hospital stay. While I don't like the man, do keep his daughter in mind and send good vibes and prayers (and whatever you damn hippies do ♥) her way.

No kid deserves to suffer, no matter how whacked out her dad is, and no dad deserves to see his daughter suffer, no matter how misguided he is.

Oh, for sure! Same thing if he himself were sick. No matter how much I dislike someone, I wouldn't wish pain or suffering on them. :)
