This is turning into a political blog. Blame the Republicans.

I thought this story had to be made up. I thought there was no way this real.

GOP attacks Maine Democrat for ‘World of Warcraft’ character.

Look at these attack ads the Republicans put out. They look like they were made in MS Paint! One, two.

NBC News writes: "Colleen Lachowicz is a Democratic candidate running for State Senate in Maine. She's also a level 85 orc in the massively popular online game "World of Warcraft." And for that, the Republican party says she is unfit for office."

Insanity. Can we vote these people off the planet yet?

I wonder if they would have done this if she played a blood elf? Especially a female one? It's harder to use something pretty as an object of hate.

She plays a blood elf! So much more beautiful than you! She doesn't live in our world!

What if she was a Paladin? Bastion of good, defender of the innocent, etc.

Thinking about it, a good counter-ad would be suggesting that she keeps her roleplaying in video games, versus playing various roles as a politician like her opponent (cite various inevitable ugly things politicians do).

I was thinking if she were a priest this would be different, too. Though a priest that kills things might not go over well.

I can't believe there's a whole month of all this left to go.
