I thought this story had to be made up. I thought there was no way this real.

GOP attacks Maine Democrat for ‘World of Warcraft’ character.

Look at these attack ads the Republicans put out. They look like they were made in MS Paint! One, two.

NBC News writes: "Colleen Lachowicz is a Democratic candidate running for State Senate in Maine. She's also a level 85 orc in the massively popular online game "World of Warcraft." And for that, the Republican party says she is unfit for office."

Insanity. Can we vote these people off the planet yet?

I wish the rest of the GOP would follow Maine's lead. "If you play World of Warcraft, if you play any video game, you're not good enough to be a Republican!" ...I twitch at just writing that. I still cannot believe that that is their logic.

My mother, to be fair, is freaking out because evidently they have documentation of her character talking about how much fun it is to stab her enemies. Mom does NOT always successfully differentiate boundaries, however.

For example. she once told me that chatting online with my ex-boyfriend and the father of my child is EXACTLY like having sex with him. Except for that whole "we fought the whole time" and "we are now living thousands of miles apart" thing. You know.

I hated to tell her about some of the things that I have said in-game that were entirely appropriate for me to say in-game that would get me arrested in most states if I said them out of game.

Even I had to laugh at that. XD This is why I say I'm a conservative, not a republican, both parties are full of lunatics! (And srsly republicans, if you're stretching this far for a 'reason', you probably aren't going to win.)

I wonder if they would have done this if she played a blood elf? Especially a female one? It's harder to use something pretty as an object of hate.

What if she was a Paladin? Bastion of good, defender of the innocent, etc.

Thinking about it, a good counter-ad would be suggesting that she keeps her roleplaying in video games, versus playing various roles as a politician like her opponent (cite various inevitable ugly things politicians do).

I like to see who's commenting, yeah. ;) I'm sorry the LJ login problem is still going on. I'll submit another report, although it's not done all that much good so far. ^^; And thanks! Stuff seems pretty dry at the point, though we'll have to do some repainting, but it looks reasonable.

Yeah, LJ support is done by LJ users, so it's pretty limited what they can do. (Though it's impressive that LJ has created a system that makes users want to do support!)
