Weekend roundup

I made a decision: If I don't watch at least one thing from Netflix most every week, I'm going to cancel it. Most things in my DVD queue are things I'd see if I have to have something sent to me, not things I want to watch. My instant queue is a little better but not by much. (I never knew I was so little of a movie person; I spend hours going though the Netflix catalog and can't find anything I want to see.)
As part of that, I did the software updates and stuff to make me able to watch movies instantly on the Wii (thus on TV). That helped a bit. (If I only watch things on the computer, it's a pain because I have to keep flipping back and forth with WoW.)
I watched the new Star Trek movie, which wasn't bad. I'm not sure if I would have liked it more if I had watched it with 100% of my attention or not. Seemed like a typical summer movie.
The other movie I watched was Frozen. I went into it expecting it to be one of those "so bad it's good" movies. It got half of that right... Cut for "spoilers", as if this movie could have such a thing. So get this plot: Three (utterly unlikeable) college kids are skiing. They go up on the ski lift and suddenly it stops. Then all the lights go out. Oh nos! The New England resort (that location is important) is shut down for the week because of a holiday and a snowstorm! They're trapped!
One guy jumps off and breaks both legs. This scene was highly gross, they showed the bones sticking out of his flesh and blood splurting and all that.
Then... a pack of wolves shows up! At the posh New England ski resort! They eat guy #1, leaving guy #2 and woman up in the lift. Guy #2 decides to climb over to the next lift seat thingie and keep climbing until he reached one low enough to jump. For some reason the lift cables are "razor sharp"... The guy's hand becomes hamburger after the first few moments, but he keeps climbing...
While that's going on, Girl pees herself. Seriously, they show her crotch getting dark and then the pee dripping down into the snow. She also loses her hat and one glove. Instead of doing a reasonable thing, like keeping her bare hand in her coat, she falls asleep holding the metal bar. Her hand freeze to it...
All this time, none of them have their coats zipped all the way up. Snowstorm, days on the lift chair, frostbite, coats open.
I have no idea what happened to Man #2. There was a graphic shot of someone getting eaten by the wolf pack, but I have no idea which of the guys it was (or if the pack killed someone else!)
Girl's lift chair falls down basically on its own, making it low enough for her to jump... then it falls on her leg and breaks it. She eventually crawls within touching range of the wolf pack feeding on a man and makes it to the road and gets rescued.
Wow, I can't believe I typed all that out, the movie was not worth the effort of writing this up. The characters were horrible, more bad things just could not have happened, and WTF wolf pack in New England... Add on top of that how graphic the blood/violence was... Sheesh.
And in non-movie news: I found a new (new to me) market in WoW. The money is seriously good (I made 10K in just over a day), but I decided it's too much work for me. I have more money than anyone in a game would need, so I'm just going to sell off the stuff I have now and try to resist buying more mats.
I kind of envy that blogger I was annoyed at (the one who gave away all the goldmaking secrets), it would be nice to be able to openly talk about this stuff to folks. Ah well, maybe one day when I quit.
New Kitty is settling in. It's so strange having a young cat! She runs around and explores everything and wants to play lots. She can sleep anywhere and in seeming any position! Such as almost upside-down. The pillow has her butt up in the air, all the blood must be rushing to her head!
