The Exposed (Animorphs #27) by "K. A. Applegate" (Laura Battyanyi-Weiss)
Traditional or self-published: Traditional
Rating: Liked (Hated-Disliked-Okay-Liked-Loved)
It's odd. Fans say the ghostwritten books are the Age of Meh in the series, but to me so far they have been better. Perhaps the more meh ones are ahead, as this was only the second ghostwritten one.
While there were way too many written out sound effects, the overall writing in this book was better than the Applegate-written ones. The story is headed in a serious direction too, and while that's not something that can be credited to Battyanyi-Weiss, it still made the overall book more enjoyable.
In this story, the Chee (nonviolent alien species) all got "turned off" and the Animorphs had to find the cause and turn them back on.
We got to meet the big bad alien of the last good book again, and things took an enjoyable dark turn with one of the Animorphs (they're trying to tempt her onto the evil side).
Even the morphs themselves were interesting in this book (sperm whale and giant squid).
