Just as a heads up, I'm going to cut my friends list back. Hopefully that will help me keep up better with it. It's nothing personal at all!

In other news:

I had to go get a Coronavirus test today.

The drive up part was cool as hell. They had almost a dozen people with signs up directing you to drive here, follow them (in your car with them on foot!), keep your window up, hold your ID up to the window... It was a well-oiled system, and no one was ahead of me, so it was quick.

The test itself: UGH. They stick a swab six inches up your nose. Through your nose to the back of your throat sort of? It was pretty awful, and for hours after I had the oddest pain (sort of like a headache and an earache and nose pain all at the same time) and it burned like I hand snorted pepper.

They told me I'd get the results in 2-3 hours by phone. Impressed by that turnaround time, I left.

Five hours later, still no results, so I called the office. Apparently they only call you if it's positive. And they still hadn't even gotten the results of my test yet.

I was less impressed.

I'm not sick at all, so I'm reasonably confident mine will be negative. But I have a medical procedure on Monday (colonoscopy, ugh) and they required me to get one first.

This weekend is going to be fun. No eating solid food for 48 hours and the prep you have to do...

Well, I guess it's good they are testing people before they come in? Doesn't sound pleasant at all. FDA apparently approved a at home saliva test recently and I'm like "If they could test with saliva, why are they doing the nose thing?" But who knows how it all works.

Um, have a good weekend I guess????

I guess the swab must be more accurate... but then why offer the other version at all? I'm sure it makes medical sense, I suppose.

Haha thanks! It's going to be an experience, though this time not one I'll be writing about. (Posting about hours in the bathroom? Worst. Post. Ever! Though on the plus side, more reading time? Haha.)

UGGGGGH.

But I guess good thing they're testing people before having them come into hospital, and good to have the data point for yourself? (you're actually the first person I know directly who got tested, so this is all new and fascinating to me :P)

Meh :/ Hope it goes fast, at least.

I made the mistake of afterwards looking up online to see how far the swab goes in. The picture is so disturbing! It's like halfway into your head! Ugh.

I can still sort of feel it today. It's like that burning/tickling feeling you get right before you sneeze, but it goes on for hours. Better than yesterday though, at least the headache/earache/nose ache (some kind of pain, hard to pinpoint where) is gone.

And same! I know of no one else who got tested, so it's kind of cool to have the experience.

As surprising as it sounds, I'm kinda envious that you can get tested so easily, even if it's uncomfortable. My country has the lowest testing rate globally, you practically have to beg for one, if your symptoms are not too bad they won't even bother with it, they just tell you to stay home *eyeroll*

I have a pretty strong gag reflex so when I had to get this test done that required a thin tube to be shoved through my nose and down to my stomach (and left like that for 24 hrs-- not fun) it took the doctor and me a LOT of work to get that thing down my throat. I probably would not fare well with a swab down my throat either lol.

For sure! I did think about how lucky I was getting one. I wanted to suggest me not getting it, save it for people who were sick, but I knew they were doing it to protect the doctors and staff, so I didn't say anything.

Ugh, a tube down your throat for 24 hours sounds simply awful!
