Gold and Assault (FFXI)

Another blah day. I think I need a break from the game for a while, which handily comes at the same time I need to stop skilling gold until stuff sells.
Gold: I should be doing happy dances all over the place. Went from 65.8 to 67.1! Biggest jump in a while! (Used 6 of my 8 stacks of plat ingots though, as well as all my other stored stuff. :/ ) But I really ended feeling "meh" and now I have about 50 rings to move. Fortunately: They sell for a profit (at the moment). Unfortunately: Only a few sell a day, and a bunch of people are selling them. Market will probably crash very soon. (I lost about 450K in plat ingots, but that was to be expected.)
I need to figure out the next couple levels of gold. I have two choices:
1) More plat rings. I'd have to buy the ore/nuggets to make the ingots, then could make the rings. At the moment they sell for a profit (assuming no breaks at any stage in this process), but see above as to the market.
2) Make something else. Nobel's crown or mailbreaker or something else. It'd be "cheaper", 1 gold ingot (~30K) as opposed to 2 plat ~100K), but I'd have to desynth or vendor -- mostly a total loss.
So I don't know. I'm leaning towards #2, because trying to move things in a slow market with lots of sellers is annoying, plus every broken synth is a big loss (1 plat ingot = 50K, both = 100K).
---
Assault: Luckily we won them all, but the first one was rough.
onionkiri: Those lockets were worthless in the 13 assault. Everyone got charmed off the bat, and kept on getting charmed. The whole thing was a mess until everyone backed off and we went with dispelling the NPCs.
Two members ranked up to Superior Private and the rest of us will next week!
As promised, static people: Hoofprint location site.
Next week we'll do the last new one waiting for us: Requiem. (Yeah, we have a couple we haven't done yet, but this is the last of the ones we said sounded good for us.) After that we'll do the mission to catch Nil up, then we'll finally be able to do the last ToAU mission fight waiting for us.
Hm, for our record: The ones we haven't done yet are Seagull Grounded and Lebros Supplies.
