2019 book: The Separation (Animorphs #32)
Feb. 27th, 2019 09:52 amThe Separation (Animorphs #32) by K. A. Applegate
Traditional or self-published: Traditional
Rating: Hated (Hated-Disliked-Okay-Liked-Loved)
My thought process as I read this book: "Oh wow, this is going to be a bad one. Really bad... Stupid, illogical stuff happening from the very first page. I guess we've finally gotten to the bad ghostwritten books." So I stopped there and checked reviews. This one wasn't ghostwritten, Applegate herself wrote it. Further evidence that my opinion of her writing is correct.
So many bad reviews of this book. Many called this the worst book of the series.
In the 10% I read, the main character (Rachel) morphed into a starfish on the beach during a field trip, with lots of people around, just because no one was currently looking at her. (Morphing takes time, it's not immediate.) Why did she do such a risky thing? Because she dropped her earring and did not want to reach into a tidepool to get it. Ugh, so stupid.
While she was a starfish, some kid tried to catch her in a bucket and cut her in half, so when she demorphed, there were two Rachels. Good Rachel and Bad Rachel. Ugh, how would that even work?!
Gave up fast on the book, stopped at the 10% point.
Partial book credits:

Previous abandoned book total: 240%
New total: 250% (2 books + 50% towards next)
