Anri and the Dragon Quest (Dragon Riders of Avria) by N. A. Davenport.
The other two books in this series, Secret of the Dragon Egg and Dragon Wings, were marked as books 1 and 2. When I was finished with book 1, I got 2 and this unnumbered book.
No where on the Amazon page is this book marked as a prequel, though if you follow the "Related to this series" link there, you'll see it marked as a prequel in small print at the end of the listing. Very confusing.
The good news about this book is, unlike book 2, it was actually edited.
The bad news is... everything else. It wasn't an awful book, it was just generic, and after reading books 1 and 2 of the series, pointless. Since the whole plot of the book was "Will Anri find a dragon egg" and in books 1 and 2 she has one... not much suspense there.
Also, highly annoyingly, the whole last chapter of this book also appeared in book 1. What a down note to end the story on.
If this book were read before 1 and 2, it might have been more enjoyable? But it still seemed to lack the spark 1 and 2 had.
If I've talked you into wanting to try this book (heh), you can get it for free on the author's website: https://www.nadavenport.com/free-book It really wasn't a bad story, I never considered DNFing it, it just wasn't as good as the other two.
