Guardians of the Galaxy 2 - 2
Aug. 29th, 2017 08:19 amI've not been sleeping well or much lately. I had intended to go to bed early last night, but I spotted Guardians of the Galaxy 2 online, and I had enjoyed it so much in the theater, I decided to just watch the beginning before bed. That ended up not working out at all, and I ended up staying up late to watch the whole thing.
It was no less enjoyable on second viewing -- it might even had been more so. Usually movies don't hold my interest and I pause them endlessly to do other things during them, but this one I watched straight through.
Yondu (the blue guy) was still my favorite part of it. But the whole thing! I loved all the characters, even the minor ones. Sylvester Stallone as the Ravager commander (Starhawk Google tells me, though not named in the movie / Edit: Though I'm seeing the name Stakar for him as well...) was so much fun! Such a commanding, confident character.
I also love how much background there is that never even comes out in the movie. I googled to find out more about Yondu's arrow (the one he controlled with a whistle), and it was like a worlds of information that the movie never touched on! It made me curious about the comic books -- I wonder how different he was in them? If things with him turned out differently?
On one hand, I understand why people consider GotG the fun, lighthearted branch of Marvel movies, but on the other... No Marvel movie has ever made me cry before, and I cried during both my first and second viewing of this. (And I'm not one who cries often, these two movies were the only time I've cried in years.)
It's so sad that GotG will only be a trilogy. There's no release date for the third movie yet, as far as I can find.
